My truck has duals the newer Petes have singles...My truck has a C-13 which IMO would be better served in an RV, its a gutless pig....The guys that do have the PACCAR I have talked to like it, its got to be an improvement over a C-13..
Super singles

that's what i meant. the rim was sitting on the ground.
with duals you can at least chug along to the next shop. without damaging the rims. you don't have that luxory with a single. get a flat and you are STUCK ON THE SPOT.
unless you all know something i don't know about. i don't see any logic to having a single -
weight savings is all my company is doing it for..

Been running SS for 5 years on Flatbeds, and Yes, it goes down you done right there. Some times the rim is still good, on the split trailer axles usually they come out ok. When replacing ours the problem is finding a shop that carries our tires and sized right also.
As with snow and winter conditions, I really like them. We run a lot on the northern side in the winter months, and the only trouble I've had has been navigating the TS parking lots covered in ice. Why is it more sh*^ happens going 5 mph than 65? I guess that's another thread.
Oh yea, since we carry a spare under the trailer, if you catch a bad spot on your V.I. we'll get the tires swapped to get us to a terminal.SHC Thanks this. -
Please dont take this wroung, ok, but for me i'm a die hard 18 wheeler, and thats means just that 18 wheel's, i dont think ss is a 18 wheeler no more, dont get me wroung , ok i understand fuel cost and stuff and changes are coming , i know this, but i just dont feel safe on ss , i can limp my truck too a shop on duels, only way i feel safe on ss would be if they had a no flat liner inside, mayby, and now i think this should be all the classroom now ,as how too handel a blowout on a ss truck, i guess it all depends on the load and the truck, i been too place's were i wish i had a single wheel on the drive, plowing thru the mud at a new school site, ya that was fun day backing thru 6 inches of mud along side the building, i think they be fine for that app , i dont know , i dont have much choice , being a company driver, you take whats given too you and make it work and hope you dont have a flat.

SS get WORSE traction in the snow and hydroplane quite a bit too in a good rain storm.

Thanks for the info, what do you haul in your tanker and is it smooth bore or do you have baffles ?
-
We haul all foodgrade so its a smooth bore, milk is what I haul the most..
The load I just took out to the west coast was yeast, last week I hauled a couple loads of veggy oil....KRAKAJACKJONSON Thanks this. -
N0 way, paccar is weak, no horsepower, no torque, c13 can be had with 470 hp and 1750 torque, and can be turned up to over 500 hp. paccar is better suited to medium class, c13 too but I'd rather have the c13, mine has twin turbos and pulls like hell down to 1100rpms.

I'm just going on hearsay I have not yet driven a PACCAR, my C-13 is in our shop getting a PM and looked at I hope it pulls like yours when they are done...I mentioned the no pulling power and they are on it !!
