Well I gave these clowns the past 13 months of my life and I am proud to say I quit.
Sievers pays 25% and their outbound freight pays really well. But they will take anything they can get their hands on to get you right back to the St. Louis area. Thus really cutting into your pay.
Case in point: If you empty out anywhere in north or south Dakota you are dead heading all the way to Shakopee MN to get cheap shingles to ST. Louis. 5 to 600 miles empty with no pay to get a load that pays you .20 cents a mile from the time you loaded it.
There is no such thing as detention, layover, dead head, tarp, or breakdown pay with this place.
They tell you that it is a first empty first loaded policy. But if you are one of the chosen few you will get to pick your load before you are even empty and available for the list.
And if you refuse a load they tell you that you go to the bottom of the next days list. Well after talking to the other 28 drivers there I found that this rule only applies to the last 3 of us that were hired. The other 26 drivers are able to refuse a load and be at the top of the list the next day so until the other 26 quit you'll never be at the top.
They do the per diem thing of 30% of your check. But don't worry it won't affect your workman's comp since they just refuse to pay you.
I know first hand. I threw my back out in Ohio and they left me sitting in a truck stop for 2 days then told me to limp it home to go see their doctor. I had 9 total days of no income due to my injury. Got paid nothing and then got put at the bottom of the list the first day I was back. I asked if everyone else had been empty for 9 days also and got told " There's nothing I can do about it". by the dispatcher.
But finally they broke the camels back and unfortunately I had to break the law to feed my family for this place.
They have been having the DOT come in to try and improve their safety rating. They beat everything the DOT came at them with except when they asked for toll tickets. The owners son quickly told them " we don't pay for tolls".
And they quickly called all of us and told us that if asked to tell anyone from the DOT that Sievers doesn't pay for tolls.
Well unfortunately I was one of the 2 guys that got called and I did as I was instructed to do. But made the instant decision to find another job which I got last week. And I wish I had told the Officer that called me the truth.
So I went in last Sunday and cleaned out the truck and called the dispatcher. ( which I have known for almost 10 year) He told me he was glad to see me get out of there. But don't expect to get your vacation pay because they don't pay it to anyone that quits. So I checked my bank on Friday and yup he didn't lie for once.
I will say the equipment is older but very well maintained. I passed 3 complete inspections in my 13 months with only one of them finding a chaffed hose. ( yeah the bogus write up ) but he didn't write me for it just told me to put a outer hard plastic cover on it.
The trucks run 76 mph and you will use it if you want to sleep or get as high on the list as they'll let you.
And don't plan on using a split sleeper on your log here they will make you go back and change it to show a full 10. This is because their log program is out of date and the auditor can't figure out if it's legal or not.
I could go on and on but I'll just stop here and say I warned you.
any questions feel free to ask but unless you want to go broke and cheat your log a lot just to make money I would stay away from these people.
