Prime Reefer Drivers

Just keepin' it straight for the newbs...

 

It has been almost 2 years since I have been in the Pacific Northwest, solo or team.

 

Been up there atleast twice with my trainer....

 

1975 solo
4110 team

 

No Way !!!!!!

 

That's $35K annual gross at prime's entry level rate of $0.34/mile. And that's average. That means some drivers may be getting 3k miles / week, while others are getting 1k miles / week!

 

If those were my numbers I'd fire my fleet Manager.

2730 for the entire year average.




Solo.

 

A little shocking isn't it? The numbers are what they are and came from a good source. There does seem to be a lack of urgency in the production department, but I didn't think it was that bad until I saw the numbers. The issue was discussed at the last stake holders meeting I do know that.

My question would be, how in the world can you pay for the truck the solo driver is driving if he's only averaging 1975 miles a week?

And to make up for your 2730 mile average, someone has to average 1220 miles a week.

 

Not to forget this is an average of ALL trucks, not just running trucks. When i took 2 weeks off in the middle of July, my truck was counting as running 0 miles a week into that average.

Also, the weeks I run miles around 2000, I tend to make the same amount, if not more than the weeks I run 3000 miles. When I have short mileage weeks it's usually because I'm running in the northeast, and the rates up there are excellent. I did a 1995 mile week earlier this year and had a settlement over $2500.

 

They must be counting empty trucks on the lot too...

It's been a long time since I have heard of anyone complaining that they were averaging less than 2k miles per week...

I haven't heard anyone complaining lately of sitting too much other than being under repair.
