I pass lots of trucks (when going downhill fully loaded) lol
But with the luxury of a pre-pass I catch up to most of those speedy super truckers while they're paying their dues to the DOT ;)

ezpass is just as good lol that slingshot through the express lane while everyone else is digging through their pockets to pay the tolls is pretty nice too lol......

been busy and running some good miles but some irritating weeks too lately.....i know it's been awhile since I posted and some of you have asked to get some updates so i'll try to sit down this weekend and do an update.

sitting in Chester right now with the rain pouring down waiting for the 10 to be up. got a whopping 160 miler out of here in the morning. hope I get something with some miles on it to end the week this has been a slack one

    Hello Flying,

I'm moving to an area near Asheboro, NC off of 220, would I be home every weekend? If not, how many weeks do they typically like you on the road before hometime?

you're only going to be about 45 minutes from the terminal....you'll get home every weekend and being just outside 30 miles from the terminal can take the truck home with you. policy is 30 miles or more you can either drive to the yard or take the truck home.....unless you just want to stay out then you can....some weekends it's only for a 34 and then i've had weekends i was in friday noon and went out monday morning.....they'll ask you when you come in when you want to go back out.....generally i'm preplanned on something when I come in so I know what time I need to be back out either sunday afternoon, evening or monday morning

since i live only about 10 miles from the terminal i have to park mine there.

Do you come home most weekends or just stay out? The previous company I worked for was dedicated team freight mostly......but I know the solo drivers would tell me they needed to stay out at least 2 weeks to make any money, otherwise they were spending all of their time going to or back from the company's freight lanes.....but with Epes, its seems they do much of their work in fairly tight freight SE lane near their terminal? As is head over there from Nashville, as soon as I hit the east end of Knoxville it seems every other truck is a Epes truck.

southeast? lol that's funny. try more like northeast. some guys luck out and get those southeast runs but aren't as many miles on them. it's a pretty good mix of northeast, northeast, midwest, and northeast. still it works out pretty good about getting home by the weekend. they'll have you pick up something on friday or saturday morning that delivers first of the week and t-call it to greensboro where you will keep it for delivery monday or drop it and get something else depending on when you're going back out.

Last 2 weeks I've gone out with a load for deleware or NJ and pretty much run the 95 corridor all week and then come back in via the charlotte area.

i think it may have alot to do with your DM as well although i've yet to confirm that. If mine has any loads going south he sure hasn't given me any of them yet.

If you stay out you're going to do a reset by early the 2nd week so it averages out the same in pay whether you stay out for 2 weeks or come in on friday/saturday. how you handle scanning that first trip of the week can manipulate your pay as well as payroll rouns tuesday-tuesday and the first trip of the week can either scan on this week or last week. if I had a short week the week before i usually try to get that first trip of the week scanned for that period, otherwise I just keep things on the current week i'm on.

I'd rather be home since I live right there.

40 and 95 are our mainstreams, we're on it a lot! Besides Northeast we have lots of accounts in Nashville area, southern GA and pretty much anywhere East of Mississippi. Central FL is as far south as we go and don't see a reason why would they not hire there. Give them a call 800-735-9063 to find out for sure.

I'm home every weekend guaranteed and I like it this way. Since most of us running on elogs and because we don't sit around waiting for freight, u gonna run out of 70 by the 7th day and gonna have to take restart at some truckstop if u stay out for 2 weeks. Doesn't make sense.

My avg miles are 2400. It's not that much but being well rested, have peace of mind and treated nicely by your DM is a GOOD DEAL for me ;)

    Good luck!

Just got my Application in yesterday. Talked to Mellisa. Everything looks good and I and I am looking forward to getting started. The hometime every weekend is a real Bonus and having a Lowes DC 5 miles from the house is great. Thanks SD. I'll keep you posted. This forum has been a real blessing for me.
