Your 1st few loads solo are fun and scary at the same time. You hope and pray that you remember everything from training and you usually do. You hope that you won't get lost or have to back into some tiny dock space. The 1st time that you see snow or heavy fog you will start to sweat and hold the steereing wheel real tight.

The fear that you will feel is your friend. It will cause you to slow down and think things through. Just remember that saftey is your 1st priority out there. If you have to get out and look 5 times in order to back into a space then do it. Do not be too proud to ask someone for help if you need it.

Being on the road is tough, especially your 1st year. You will get lost, breakdown, drive in all kinds of weather, and get lonely. Most rookie drivers won't make it. Trucking is stressfull, kinda like boot camp in the miliatary. The only difference is that if your solo, you won't have anyone to laugh with and talk to. So get a good cellphone with plenty of minutes on it and call "positive" friends and family members. Stay away from "negative" drivers, friends & family. Little things can really eat at you if you sit and think about them for 8 hours as you drive down the road. BOL.

Hes right, be safe but enjoy the scenery of the USA. It makes being away from home so long some how not so bad.
