If you are traveling in the Williamsport, Lewisburg, Sunbury, Danville, Bloomsburg Areas in Centeral Pennsylvania be aware there is extensive flooding. US 11 is closed between Sunbury and Northumberland, as well as US 15 is closed in Lewisburg. There are many others up and down the central part of the state.

I 80 in both directions is now closed in Bloomsburg between the Buckhorn Exit 232 and the Lightstreet Exit 236. PennDOT says that there is no way around the closing due to flooding. You can use 511 in PA for road closing information.

Is I-70 open and is it affected by the flooding? Any alternates for EB on a tight schedule?

My BF is picking up a load in KS tomorrow, delivering Monday in NJ/NY on Monday - yes, the day AFTER the 9-11 memorial, and with the flooding headaches in PA, and the anticipated weekend closures in NJ/NYC for the memorial services...delivering on schedule is going to be close if possible at all.

Any info would be greatly appreciated so I can pass it on to him. He won't be online but will be headin' eastbound and checking in for info.

    Thanks!

HFC, thanks for the info and all the links.

However most of them loop people back to 511PA which is either a slow link anyway, or is very overwhelmed by traffic and keeps timing out.

Either way, I could never get any info other than "if ya don't HAVE to be in eastern PA, stay away!" :biggrin_2552:

That is the truth... The flooding goes from New York State all the way down to Maryland...

I read today that over 170 state roads are closed due to the flooding. My husband needs to be in the area Friday evening...not sure that will happen!:biggrin_25513:

Thanks to info provided by HFC, I called PASP and they said that I-76 (PA turnpike) is closed E of Harrisburg almost to Philly, but I-78 into Allentown is still open "at this time."

The officer's advice was to call again over the weekend to check status. It could change depending on what happens up-river.

Not looking good for the east coast, and Texas is on fire. :biggrin_25513:

    What a sorry mess.

Guess I made it across just in time today. Came east to Philly out of Wheeling. Did see some crew working the shoulders, where the ground was soaked and small mud slides were coming onto the road. I do mean small but the DOT has to work them for safety. Falling rock and mud may end up being the worst result, due to the ground being so saturated at this point, for the roads anyway. If it were my house in danger, I may think differently.

Hopefully Mother Nature will ease up a bit soon. She has been dealing some bad cards lately.
