Hi all. I got my CDL in 2008 and then I started as an owner operator which didn't work out. I have been doing other work since then. My class A is still valid far as I know, but I have to get my medical tests done so I can get my medical card. My question is, will it be possible for me to break back into the field? Is my class A CDL still valid if I go back and get my medical tests so I have my medical card? Thanks for any help you can give me.
What can I do with this CDL?

You will most likely have to go through a school or at the very least take a refresher course.
Maybe you can also start another thread telling other newbies about your experience trying to go O/O from the start. I have tried to explain this to them till I was blue in the face but for some reason it just doesn't register. Maybe they will listen to someone who had done it.
BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
Some people have to learn things the hard way. So many people have it in their minds that all owner operators make a ton of money and get to work whenever they want.
They dont keep in mind that those owner operators also have a ton of operating costs.....And sure you can work whenever you want....Whenever you want to make money!
I know it seems exciting to get your own truck and run your own show, and for some people it works out great. But I dont think most of these newbies know just how much goes into being an owner operator. -
