Any low down on GreatWide..

    I know what I am talking about when I say this so please everyone listen....... DO NOT lease on to GW through the GreatStart program. There isn't enough time in the day for me to explain the reasons why this is a horrible thing to do. I will say, in the 4 years I worked there, I saw driver after driver lose everything because of GreatStart.

    Be leary of Greatwide.. Very Leary.. company or o.o.. They just let go 1 dispatcher from most of their dedicated terminals.. said they are cutback layoffs..

    They aren't hurting.. They are greedy sobs. They look like the investment company that bought them 2 years ago is about to try and take profits on it and sell it.. You know gut the fish show all the meat then sell the fish as if it is alive.. You don't know what you have bought until you get to see the fish try to swim..

    They are turning record profits right now and have never been in any trouble money wise.. That bankruptcy was a sham they just want to show a profit and sell it. I hope they sink and lose everything they got but that isn't going to happen. The good never get any credit and the ###### business people never get what they deserve.

    Anyone know specifics of company driver pay, schedule, and benefits? Especially the Paul's Valley, OK Wal-Mart DC?

    man as for the pay and the hours.. You would have to call the operating center and they would be able to tell you what they pay...

    I will tell you this when you go to work for a wal mart dc as a greatwide company driver.... YOU WILL BE WORKING EVERYTIME THEY TELL YOU TO!! It starts out as a Weds through Sunday 12 hour days either 6a to 6p or 6p to 6a... You will run elogs. When it snows you will work either way your day or not. You touch anything on the ice or snow they are going to say you should have known better than to run on the truck..you know that you are " the captain of your own ship". Refuse to run on it they will fire you(for something else but you are just as fired). If you really need a job from the company guys I have talked to you are going to be home daily make decent money until wal mart tells greatwide to take a hike OR wal mart renews the contract and everything becomes regional freight instead of terminal and return.. Then you will be an over the road driver delivering wal mart stores.. Or dare I say unemployed again.

    Thx WoT. The co I'm with now has been bought by Reser's, so we are all watching to see what happens. I'm trying to be optimistic and hope that they will look hard at the operation and improve things. meanwhile, I'm keeping an eye on craigslist and on here. If straight OTR was an option for me at this point, my wife & I would pack our gear and be gone...:biggrin_25525:
