Thanx for the info on the other companies, I just finished applying with them..The schools I had listed above were some of the applications the school had given us to fill out, and they seemed to be the better of the bunch. Originally I was looking at Mcelroy out of Cuba Alabama, but they stopped hiring in my area for the moment.

AT, no offense taken,
trust me, I am smart enough NOT to lease, especially from a trucking company.

What about stevens transport if you got no other shot at this time or should you take the bulklet instead?

Now I don't have a degree in math, so maybe I'm missing something here. But you say you hope to make 2k a month....now according to my public school math..$750/wk=$3000 per month and $850/wk=$3400 per month. Last time I checked that entire range is greater than $2000.Nycmex77 Thanks this. -
I was just at Trans Am just over a week ago and I ran for the hills when they tried to push that lease crap on me. They say you can become a company driver but they send you home if you choose to go that route. I didn't want to go that route so I looked at what their lease had to offer and it was a total scam...so with that being said I had it out with their lease department, Heather and Brittany and they asked me to leave their property...it was epic, you guys should have been there. I liked it also when Brittany was making me sign the workmans comp insurance saying that it was federally mandated that independent contractors had to carry it, I told her it wasnt a federal law but she assured me it was, I had to school the girl into why it isnt and why I had to sign it and she didnt even know it was a Trans Am policy, she really thought it was federal law...lol.

If you are looking at 2000 take home a month please read post by yankeetexan above, if you do the math that is the range you would be in. Yes you unload and it is not easy. I know nothing of trans am so can't help you there. If the werner recruiter told you the mileage for otr you should have stopped them faster than you did usa or they did not tell you the right pay.
If you run team for werner it is less than usa pay and then split with your co driver. I do work for werner and have never made less than 47k/year including my first year, but I doubt that where you are at you could do that unless you take dollar general or family dollar and bust your arse, and even then it will be very tough to do.
Ask the recruiters for more details not just broad numbers. For the dg or fd accounts ask what is the base mileage pay? what is stop pay? are you paid for all stops? average length of trip? how many stops per trip? is there a separate pay for unloading or is it included in the stop pay? If they do not have solid answers for this then do not believe anything the say about it as they are just spouting average numbers.
I would suggest you find some drivers that live in your area from these companies and see what they have to say. Do not believe the recruiters from any company unless they have it in writing to back it up.
It is my honest opinion as a driver for werner that if you come here you will have a hit or miss chance on getting a decent trainer and even making it through training. If you do that I would guess by your area you could make maybe 30k your first year. I wish you the best of luck wherever you go, but just do not expect too much when first starting. You must be prepared to deal with crap no matter where you go.LostinMS Thanks this. -
werner is a good co if your a team driver , solo get treated like crap , some solo do get luck and traeted fairly its a gamble, conway truck load is the best co to work for and there hiriing big time give them a call now dont waste your time .

Stay away from the Family Dollar account. Yeah, you'll get home every week....but you'll do nothing but rest your back after blowing out your 14 far more than your 11.

lol, I guess I should have elobarated more, just I don't believe that any company is going to give me a rookie a dedicated or regional right off the bat. I expect to be put out in the boonies making some low pay, with the hope of making at least 2000.00. I really have no expectations of making crazy money doing this, just want to be able to pay my bills thats all.
