it could be the stage selector for the jake brake.
-
Sorry...You all have it incorrect. That knob controls the Flux Capacitor.

Wait- wait- I know ! It's the frequency controller for the vibrating... What?... Nevermind.

They still are out in new trucks I have them in 07's 08's and 09's. The reason for them is when you park at night you set that and then turn the ignition off and it let's your truck cool down before turning off helps with turbo life.
-
Any driver should know to idle 3-5 minutes to cool down before shutdown. I usually do my logbook while the engine settles. Works out good.
I guess you can call it a dummy knob.
-
I've had a few. Nice to have if you want to let it cool down for a few minutes, set it and take the keys with you, it'll shut off by itself.

Pretty sure thats the 5th wheel inflation switch. Cant be running around with a flat 5th wheel, gotta keep it at the proper inflation level.
-
A hydraulic 5th wheel is about $30,000. fr the ones used in the oilpatch, sure would be nice ti have known that all we needed was a switch on the dash.

-
I bet you in 50 years landing gear will be cranked by a motor, there will be a 5th wheel release button in the cab.....I bet all you will have to do is hook the air lines.
