I was thinking the same thing, Injun. Been on e-logs for 13 months now...no sticker on the outside of the unit to indicate such. Have also been inspected in KY, NY, and SC since then. They verify that I'm e-logs, I answer in the affirmative, and aside from the NY inspector, who just wanted to quickly glance at them, they go on.

I do know that a good many companies that use e-logs DO have such stickers. Haven't seen any on a Schneider truck as yet...

 

When elogs went in my truck they handed me the stickers. I cut the bottom of it off (Powered by Qualcomm). No free advertising!

I believe we have to carry a card with instructions on it and a document saying the whole company use them. I want to say there's a rule for that but I can't site it.

 

Some companies have the stickers some don't it is not required by DOT

not saying your FM shouldn't stand up for you more, but you have to realize that's he's probably just as replaceable as you are. His family would be pissed if he got canned for picking a fight he can't win. You are safe where you're at, sure you' aren't getting fixed but there are some battles that you don't need to fight. Plus you have no idea how things went down. For all you know he said, fix the darn truck where he's at, and as a result of saying that he may have been warned to not tell the shop how to operate. It's a good idea to focus on the things within your circle of influence, and to try to let the things in your circle of concern play out as they may. Makes office work life play out easier. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, but if it keeps on squeaking it gets replaced.

 

There is no where all you need is a paper in cab

 

You better also have a paper log back up in case the EOBR fails, meaning if it fails you can convert to paper

It doesn't. Never said it did. I figure a sticker is a quick at a glance way for the DOT to see logs aren't an issue. Not to mention free advertising.

Another interesting rule: there must be a way for DOT to view logs without stepping in or even on the CMV.
