I have to agree with "StudentOfLife."
I drove OTR for a while, until I realized the true situation I was in. Truck drivers are treated not much better than entry level immigrant farm workers. I live in CA where even these farm workers are treated better than most of us truckers. They get minimum wage, even more, after a while, and over-time, even though they are Ag workers.

I have talked to some of them who get promoted and supervise a group of their buddies-get to drive forklifts and make more than $20 an hour! I know of one white fork lift driver who earns over $27 an hour! A forklift driver! This guy is making a hell of a lot more than any truck driver I know..... I realize that fuel Truckers do make real good money-even some other chemical haulers...but they are the exception to the rule!

All of us Truckers need to unite and put our collective feet down and tell our bosses that we are not gonna take it any more! It has start some where....why not here?
I know it sounds like I am talking big, but I have seen enough drivers get burned so badly-get so discouraged-then they start bad mouthing the entire trucking industry!

I drove for an OTR company, and I was treated very well, but an average of $8.95 (.32 a mile) an hour does not cut it! I took a crappy local job just so I could at least make a decent hourly wage. All of you OTR truckers need unite, get yourselves a representative to speak for you, then strike! I would drive OTR if I could get paid decently!

You are all being ripped off! Most drivers just do not do the math to see what really is going on. Once I did that, I saw the "light.":biggrin_25523:

    Any body with me?

I've done some research on this company, hendrickson, and they've been racking up their share of lawsuits, Especially ones they lost. A lot are from drivers who sue over wage and hour claims with the labor commissioner. Some judgements are running in the tens of thousands of dollars 'cause the law allows for double damages. When you see a company lose that many lawsuits for similar violations, you gotta pay attention to the habit. They also just came close to having all of their trucks and equipment siezed by the leasing company, but staved them off with some sort of last minute agreement. Bottom line is also....I don't know if these drivers with these judgements are getting them satisfied yet. don't let people like this get too deep into your pockets, 'cause they might be in BK proceedings the next week.

Ayatollah - apparently the "deal" was to turn in a ton of their Freightliners. If you drive down I80 by Northgate Blvd, you will see the Freightliner dealer on the south side of the freeway. They have a ton of gray used Freightliners - they all came from Hendrickson. So, apparently that was the deal - cut down on the number of tractors they have.

FYI - Hendrickson is worse than ever. Going to take some advice from this website and contact DOL while looking for driving job openings and filling out applications for my hubby. Enough is enough!!!
