Melani ... I 2nd this ... my hubby went to an overpriced trucking "school" back in '95 ... it was only 3 weeks long w/very little road time. He was out of the game for 8 years & went to a local comm college for a 6 week course last year and said he learned MUCH more there than at that other place.

And by the way ... be GLAD you didn't get on w/pam transport ... that's who he went with in '95 and was nearly killed by a "trainer" who felt that he could handle mother nature.

While working on your CDL, talk to other drivers, research as many companies as possible, and definitely check out The Trucker's Report!

You can not down a company that 16 years ago had a "rotten" trainer. Just my opinion.:biggrin_25513:

We are looking for 2 drivers at our place for local work and nobody is beating down the door to hire on. It looks like they might hire a 21 year old, so you know he has limited experience. But then again, our job is 100% touch freight, so wimps don't bother.

Maybe not, but looking at recent posts from current employees would make a person think twice about it.

To be honest people, I hear a lot of bad reviews about ALL trucking companies. People's nature is to point out the bad instantly yet they nevermind the good. Sure there are rotten trainers out there but that is the nature of the beast. You get a lot of folks who don't care about what they do. I can tell you about a lot of rotten teachers in public schools yet everyone seems to defend the teachers...

Reviews are top priority when choosing a company, but one trainer and one experience that happened over a decade ago is not good enough. If a company was so horrible and wasn't offering safe options, do you think they would be around for this long? Don't think so. As many post on here (truckers report), there are some who are made for this industry, and many who just shouldn't be doing this.

You answered your own question. They have been around so long because so many sucka's have that attitude. Everyone else must just not be able to hack it, but I can!:biggrin_2559:

Contact James Mc Cormack jamestca@comcast.com or go to www.bigtrucksbigbucks.com
I'm in my second week at international schools for CRST.
I love it! It's attitude though. You might ask the guy next to me and he hates it.
Tell James that melani referred you.

I used to hump loads out of the truck years ago, sounds like a good job for a 21 year old.
