I don't know if you did or not Hosss, but contact your Terminal Manager or go oin and talk to him/her next time you are in the terminal. Also, give a call to Brooks and ask to speak with Rob Cahill. I want to say he is the head safety guy in Brooks and bring up your concerns with him. It sounds like this "trainer" is in it for the pay and not to help new drivers succeed at May.

thanks for advice efon ,i had called safety and h.r. before but they didn't call back, that is why i posted what i did on here,to at least warn anyone going out with him of what to expect.that's why i said safety doesn't care, they haven't called back.what i said was serious and i only said what i could prove,i could have said more but i am not going to get into i said /he said situation.i say somewhere on here someone else posted about a texting trainer, but can't find it.
i called the terminal manager and am waiting for a call back,we'll see.
i've driven before and expected some level of professionalism ,but this is the kind of guy that gives truckers a bad rep. -
After Cindy's message tonight, I would suggest calling her and leaving her message as well. I'm BEYOND appalled! Not only is someone about to not be a trainer, but they are also about to not be a May employee. People like that we neither want nor need here! Too many idiots on the road to begin with!
My first hour with my trainer was "NO PHONE CALLS OR TEXTS WHILE DRIVING! GIVE YOUR WIFE MY PHONE NUMBER IF SHE NEEDS TO GET HOLD OF YOU WHILE YOUR DRIVING!" -
hosss...you have a PM...
-
i suggest changing to schneider, a very safety oriented company.
-
May is a safety oriented company. Newbeav, you are going to tell us that at Schneider there is not one driver that has ever done, or will ever do what Hosss has witnessed?
There are bad apples at any company. -
I don't doubt Hosss's account, but I just can't believe it. (if that makes sense) EVERYONE I have ever met in safety, no matter the terminal, takes their job VERY, VERY, VERY seriously! And compliance even moreso (consistently running over his 70? WTF?)
NewBeav...let he without sin...lol
Schneider has 11x the drivers May does, yet they have 15-16x the fatalities/injuries etc...you know it's not because the other people didn't see a huge neon orange truck lol
(not picking on Schneider, just that every company has it's issues)
Definition:
Crashes
Each crash is only recorded once and at its highest level of severity. For example, if an crash involved one fatality, three injuries, and one tow-away, the crash would only be recorded as a single fatal crash. The crash total is therefore the sum of the fatal, injury, and tow categories.

Hey, didnt mean to strike a nerve-should not have lumped the company in with the bad trainer. Just mean there are good options for Hoss if May does not work out after all the problems he had.
-
Fair enough. There was a driver that used to post here for May that left for a regional gig out of the Portland area for Schneider. Said he enjoyed it.

thought i would update my progress
got a couple of prehires, one with gordon trucking but had to turn them down because i am starting with a guy that has a small fleet and leases to earl l. henderson in st.louis.no lease or contract on my part though
9 weeks of training at $6-800 a week and 40% of load after that for $12-1500 a week.my trainer is my own age and smokes so things are looking up.
sorry to derail this thread as efon convinced me to go with may before.it looks like texting tom might have done me a favor though.he's got new freightliners,so the trucks aren't as good, but i'm in it for the money
iv'e been put off and rejected and delayed by alot of the big carriers even though i have a perfect driving record and no major issues with criminal history,so i went with a different approach
still think may is one of the better co's but it didn't work out for me
i think that for all this to work out all the elements of luck and circumstance and aptitude and attitude
well thanks for the support
thththats all folks bye
