Money is cheap right now. If you are looking at replacing or expanding in the next year then now is as good a time as any to do it. Plus with hoppers, because they hold value, there are several games that can be played on your taxes.
But I think it is too much of a risk. I have talked to guys that have jumped at the cheap interest, discounts on new hoppers, planning on renting them and selling them next year or year after. Far to many farmers heading into a bad year. And I'm not one that jumps on the annual "harvest is going to be bad this year." But the early yields are down. Not saying wholesale BK's but when revenue is down this year, sales of equipment will be down next year.

I don't know about Ill. but Kansas yields were definitely down. Crop insurance will help most farmers but they will still take a hit.
BigBadBill and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
I believe I heard down south "texas" had 230 counties that were called as abandoned b/c there was nothing to harvest
wheathauler Thanks this. -
Haven't seen Lewis trucks yet. You never know about some of these outfits, some change their names, get new authority but they still are bad apples. You are going to see some outfits hauling what ever they can and hauling cheap just to make payments and then they will let their maintenance go. It will be interesting to see who is still in business next summer. What I am hoping for is plenty of loads with really good rates, less trucks and customers screaming for hoppers.wheathauler and highside Thank this.
