Wow, no one on this... Okay do I have a seal or what goes in behind the damper?? I have an oil leak around there. Just thought there would be a seal that goes in place to the crank shaft..
-
Yes there is a seal back there. It requires a crankshaft seal installer from Cat to press it in though. How long it would take is hard to answer. Depends on if you have room to do it without removing the radiator or not.

Okay so I'm probably better off taking to the shop...thanks

I did mine with an installer I borrowed from a friend. I have a Pete 379 & it went in no prob, plenty of room. Getting the old one out? Thats a whole other project. If they make a tool for removing the old one, do what you can to borrow that too. I did mine with a hacksaw blade broke off so it had a narrow tip, a small chisel & alot of patience...good luck if you tackle it yourself otherwise I'm sure a decent shop would do it fairly resonable.
brenes-built Thanks this. -
Just got a quote for right around $500 parts/labor...this sound right...

If I remember correctly, the seal is like $80. Google Monaco Tool they make an installer for a resonable price I think...?
