Hello. I spent 20 minuets searching for a proper thread for this and could not find a good fit so forgive me if I have sinned by starting a new one.
I will try to make this as short and to the point as I can. I have wanted to get a CDL for the better part of my life I'm 48 now. I went back to school at the beginning of the recession to learn Networking and get a job in the IT field. During the summer term between my 2 years I could not take enough classes to keep my full time student status so I picked up a 8 week CDL coarse at a local Tec school, Graduated and got my CDL. I was doing some part time local driving from August 09 till Spring 2011 when I graduated. After getting out of school for the Networking I have not been able to find a job in the small town I'm in So I decided to go out OTR for a year or two and Decided to get my hazmat as I knew I would be needing it. I applied and after a few weeks one Friday I received the notice that I was good to go. The next day I receive a commercial driving disqualification from the sate or GA because of a ticket in 2006 and another in 2009 just under 3 years apart both over 15 miles over the limit. It was a year after the second ticket when I received my CDL. Anyways I was suspended from june12th through Aug 13th 2011 after which time I got all my endorsements thinking It wouldn't be that big of a problem.
I'm looking for any advice or help I can find. Anyone been through something like this? I cannot seem to get a job with anyone CR England had hired me saying they had no problem with the one-two year old ticket then they seen the suspension and couldn't let me drive. One company said I could drive for them once the suspension was at least a year old and once it is a year old my last ticket will be over three years old. Any advice for jobs with a ticket and a suspension within 3 years. Could a lawyer help me get the suspension removed? Thanks in advance.

I don't see how a lawyer can remove a suspension since it has already happened and been reinstated. It will probably be difficult to find something with a recent suspension. Some carriers don't care the reason why the suspension occurred. It would be easier if you already had some experience, but since you are new about the only thing you can do is keep knocking on doors. Your other alternative is to wait for a year and then try to get on with a company. I have found that persistence usually pays off.

The suspension will be a big problem. Many companies want no suspensions in the last three or five years.

I wish I had some really awesome advice to give you. I don't. There's no need to beat you up. You're already paying the price and you're not acting arrogant about it. All I can say is good luck to you and I hope something shakes out for you.

I'm not going to be as easy Injun :)

Two 15 over = lead foot and reckless driving. One is suppose to learn from the first offense. This sounds like someone in their 20's, not their 40's.

Maybe it's for the best. Driving a big rig is a huge responsibility that requires good habits and respect for the traffic laws. Something your record says different.

Do what it takes and finish that degree out. Even if it means poverty and working at McDonalds. Once your done, you'll be much happier.

I would suggest finding a small company or a o/o with a couple of trucks. With CSA and insurance rates these days, no one wants to take a risk. I wouldn't bother wasting your time with the big name companies.

Getting an inexperienced driver approved by the insurance company can be just as problematic for a smaller carrier as it is for a large carrier, perhaps more so. My insurance company will not cover an inexperienced driver, even with a pristine mvr. Even with several years experience, my insurance company would not cover someone with a 15 mph over ticket if it happened within the 3 years prior to applying. There may be someone who will give you a chance and be able to cover you on their insurance. I think you are going to have to keep knocking on doors. If you can't find a company right away, you may have to wait until both drop off your record. The suspension is not as likely to hurt you as much as the 15 over. You still have time before that last ticket drops off. Since Bush changed the laws concerning CDL's, everything that we do in a 4 wheeler also appears on our CDL. Prior to the changes, if you got a ticket in a private vehicle or 4 wheeler it did not appear on your CDL MVR. Now, it really doesn't make any difference.
