Mexican trucks and drivers for one thing have been operating up in the US for years and just not a few miles across the river. I am not sticking up for our little brown neighbors to the south but our own people have been cutting the rates and hauling below cost for the last thirty some years so everyone is use to it by know so I don't see much change coming. I think the larger Mexican fleets and the fleets that will be trucking up here in the US are owned by US company's like Celeadon. I don't think you will be seeing Pedro with his forty year old Kenmex with a hammock for a sleeper hauling to Chicago.

And what are you going to do to make it so expensive for them to operate?

Your joking right do you ever haul in texas ? rates can be good / ok at times,,, but i still get 1.00 mile offers even when fuel is 4.00 its because of all the mexycans. A 1.00 will become a common rate.

Have you ever woke up to find 4 of your trailer tires FLAT amazing how fast and quietly those tiny portable drills can drill a 1/4 inch hole in a tire side wall !!!!!

I'm sorry to say this and the mods can warn me or what ever but you have got to be one of stupidist people out there if you really plan on doing damage to other people's equipment. Talk about giving a truck driver a bad reputation. :biggrin_25513:

This is 100 percent true had one lay a truck over in front of me in PA about 15 years ago he was on his way to the market in NY and as far as rates I talked to a driver the other day that was hauling for $1 a mile ant this driver was from SC long way from Mexico

There are more of us than them, of any nationality. Obviously adding trucks with the "I'll haul cheap mentality" doesn't help. Drivers of our own nationality and American citizens of all nationalities have been hauling cheap freight for years seemingly without a clue to the effect on our rates.

There are and will continue to remain more of us than them for years to come. Our actions, as the majority, have the ability to make a bigger difference than their actions. While you may be seeing drivers of a certain nationality show up in certain sectors of trucking, the cheap trucks have always been there.

The truth is, it will not help to have more cheap trucks in the market. The bigger truth is we could get better rates by changing the mentality of the "American Citizen" drivers than we could by blocking the entry of drivers of another Nationality.

Shipping rates are a product of supply and demand. Which group do you believe has the higher numbers, American trucks that will haul cheap or Mexican trucks that will haul cheap? Working the largest group hauling cheap freight would have the largest and fastest effect on improving rates. I don't see how signaling out a small part of a problem and blaming the problem on them will fix anything. We would do much better to work the bigger part of the problem.

Sure this won't help our situation but it is like worrying about a bad injector when you have a rod knocking.

Mexican Carrier Clears Audit for Cross-Border Trucking
By Oliver B. Patton, Washington Editor

A Mexican trucking company, Grupo Behr de Baja California, has cleared its pre-authorization audit for providing long-distance service into the U.S. as part of the pending cross-border pilot program.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration posted the audit results in yesterday's Federal Register and is looking for public comment on its findings. Comments are due by Sept. 22.

The pre-authorization audit and public comment process are part of the regulatory system the agency is putting together to comply with the March agreement between the U.S. and Mexico.

Under the agreement, cross-border trucking will resume in a limited way for three years, and Mexico will lift the tariffs it imposed on U.S. goods in retaliation for Congress pulling the plug on an earlier cross-border program.

Grupo Behr, a small general freight carrier based in Tijuana, cleared a review of its safety management system and of the specific trucks and drivers that will cross the border. The company has nine trucks and four drivers, according to its website. The audit cleared five trucks and three drivers to cross the border.

Under the agency's regulatory system, once the pilot program is up and running, Grupo Behr will be eligible for provisional operating authority to begin cross-border operations. Provisional authority will last for 18 months. After then, if the carrier has no pending enforcement or safety improvement actions and has cleared a compliance review, it is eligible for permanent authority in the pilot program.

It is not clear when the pilot program will get under way. The safety agency expects to complete work on its program by the end of the month, but the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has sued to halt the program and several congressmen introduced legislation to limit it.

No im not venting im serious ive thought long and hard about this and if and when i see them affecting my rates you can #### sure bet i will do something about it while all you other sheeple out there follow the band off the cliff. most of you are drivers and dont think past your next paycheck but wait till your companies door closes and then just go to another company and TRY to hire on OR when your pay equals 5-10 bucks an hour think about how happy you are then.!!!!:biggrin_2556:

Thats why america SUKS right now,,, there are so few willing to make a stand on anything,,,, the mentality of waiting for the goverment to fix things, pay us and feed us has turned us all into sheeple!!!:biggrin_25513:

So go ahead and call me crazy and venting but after you have no job or are making half of what you used to think back about this post :biggrin_2553:
