I gave some thought to the scenario described, and I recalled something I discovered when I was a rookie driver. I had a few close calls like that, pulling out, check left, check right, check left... Whoa! Where did that car come from?
As it turned out, a car can be momentarily unseen at the right distance if the truck's mirror (L or R) is in the drivers line-of-sight. It's momentary, but just enough to cause just that kind of scenario.
I learned to bob my head front to rear to clear the mirror. That may or may not be what happened, but this is what came to mind.
Drivers pay attention!!

I have read the report them post and being new here on the board I was wondering, what company do you own or work for?
-
They are call the new "Cell Phone Police" with nothing more than time on their hands to judge every move a driver does. Let's put a number on the back of all of their cars so when they make the slightest error we can all call their wife of husband to complain about them, or better yet their insurance carrier so they know the risk they have out there on the the road.

I think as professional drivers we are always under the microscope by anyone in a 4 wheeler and the d.o.t.. I know that we always have to be vigilant in our driving habits and be always aware of our surroundings for the idiots out there that have no respect for others on the road. We have a lot of blind spots around our truck and maybe the guy just didn't see you. Hopefully you wil read these post and give the guy a break so he can keep making money to support his family.
Not every company is for every driver. Find the one that best suits your needs.
Drivers be safe out there and go home alive and well.Mark Kling Thanks this. -

"Okay, I've emailed Palmentere Bros. several times today (email address from their web site) and all have come back "undeliverable". I sent a fax first thing this morning, but still have not heard from them and now it's after 2 p.m. I'm sure they have lots on their plate, but I'm a tenacious little something so I'm going to keep hounding them until I hear from them. Any suggestions on how to get their attention????"
hopefully she can find her way back to this thread. -
Read my old posts, it's buried in there somewhere.
