Teaming is tough if you aren't driving with your significant other. Plus unless you live in the same town home time will be brutal. I teamed with another driver when I first started driving and it actually worked out pretty well. We lived in the same town though and only did 7 day turn around runs. We had a day off when we came home. I was just starting out so I really learned a lot cause my co-driver had a lot of experience on the road. I made really, really good money but with that being said you have to really mesh well with the other driver. You also have to trust their driving. Its hard sleeping while putting your life in someone else's hands!

Some of the down sides of teaming would be when you are sitting. Two guys stuck in a 5x5 box! You must really keep up on your hygiene and hopefully your buddy does too!

Like I said home time can be a real challenge if you aren't from the same town.

When teaming you really have to designate who does what and who is in charge of what. This will ease the arguments and make your job a little more smooth. Maybe one of you take care of the mechanical side while the other take care of the office work part of it.

Running team rarely gives you time to yourself. You will really be hustling and as a team you are expected to run 1000 a day or 7000 a week. You must adjust to sleeping in a moving vehicle. This can be tough especially through the states that have crappy roads. I'm sure you will get a taste of this when you are training anyway.

If one of you gets sick though you can still roll on down the road and continue to make money. Two sides to that coin. A team is expected to push on through no matter what. Teams get a lot of repowers and hot loads so there is a little more responsibility. Course this makes your drop and hook percentage very high. Thats a good thing!

    Hope this helps a little.

Teams earn more money than solo drivers is what im told,Im looking to drive on a team with PAM for my first year atleast just so I have the best chance of making some decent money. Im counting on a team truck to NOT have as much down time as a solo,we will see how that works out though.

Depends on your situation, I got my conformation for SLC the next day and I was in class 4 days later. But that's just me. Others in my class waited a few days before they got their conformation. Also, keep on top of your recruiter as they are very busy and there is a possibility that they will be delayed in calling you.

Good luck!...Be ready, this is a very fast course and you need to learn a lot very quickly. Pay attention to the instructors and do what they say and you will be just fine.

On that note we tested today and rocked it...Monday we go get our CDL's then report to orientation:biggrin_25525:

I don't believe that. If it is a husband/ wife team then maybe. But most of the time teams make about the same money with more hassle.
To make what I did solo when full OTR, teams would have to run well over 6000 miles per week. And that is not that common, especially with a reefer. To many live loads with a reefer.
Team company's like to push that BS to get more teams.

Somewhat agree with Chrome, just because you are a team doesn't mean you will automatically make more money. Especially if you get a lazy co-driver. You also need a good DM that can keep up with you and know how to run a team. Once you show them you can run and prove your capabilities then you should really start racking miles. Especially once the planner sees they have a good team. If you are planning and communicating well enough then you should have plenty of drop and hooks. You just really have to stay on top of it. A lot of your success is going to depend on what company you drive for too.
