Voltage at the batteries was and is 14.23. I have been using the original alt pulley (moving it from one alt to the next). The truck did not have a sense wire....I added one from (batt +) post to sense terminal on alt. ONE WEIRD THING DID HAPPEN.....while checking voltage at alt my allegator clip grounded out the main batt + terminal for a few seconds.....some sparks....then perfect voltage!....right at 14.1 on the guage! The truck went to work the next day....right back to near 15 & overcharging....the brief short didnt hurt the alt but made it behave properly for a little while.......WEIRD!

Dash / Body computer......sounds complicated and expensive....explain
-
Heavyd......the original alt was tested and confirmed bad diodes & stator

The newer trucks are mostly computer controlled and most gauges are driven by computer data. This is neat problem you have. Do you have a generator or inverter or any other extra stuff mounted anywhere. You could try pulling fuses one by one and seeing if the voltage returns to normal to test if something in the truck wiring is going bad.
-
That isn't a 24 volt alternator by mistake is it? You can also disconnect the alternator positive cable and see if the voltage comes down to make sure something hidden isn't producing voltage.
-
Nothing extra installed on the truck & its a 12v for sure.

Not to be rude, or insulting, but just double check that all the batteries are connected properly, all the positives are together and all the negatives are together. Make sure all your grounds and positive connections are clean and tight. Bad connections will increase the resistance between the alt and batteries. With higher resistance comes higher voltage. Most alternator cables connect to the battery cables at the starter. make sure everything is clean and tight there. Make sure the ground cable is good too and the engine block is properly grounded. Have you tried pulling the fuses or breakers one by one to see if a certain circuit is causing this?
-
Haven't pulled any fuses.....4 new batteries & all cables were cleaned and tightened. Engine & frame ground were removed & cleaned. Didnt check any alt cables at the starter.

Still overcharging. It was fine....right at 14.2 then it decided to climb to 15....even with all lights on, a/c on, everything turned on....still overcharging & turning the light on in the volt guage. Do I have a dash circuit board problem?

Some thoughts here, but no ideas on your problem:
My 36SI with sense lead connected runs around 14.5 give or take.
The sense lead does NOT have to be hooked up. That is optional. It is supposed
to help the alternator by reading directly on the battery but is not mandatory.
Personally I dont think there is anything wrong with a reading in the 14v entire range.
I have brand new Thermoking EON AGM batteries and my 36SI is only 1yr old and I typically see around 14.2 when it's running.
Alternator is: 13.65 to 15.0 volts
Readings at 15+ are indeed too high.
