    You are right. I like to use coax. solder the center conductor to the braid when you put the end on.

    The ground braid from rg-58, rg-59,mini-8x,and rg8u,are excellent sources for ground strap, get some off of old coax and use for groundstrap. The one lenght idea is indeed a faximilie for the ground side of your antenna, so it must be in irregular lenghts so as not to become a radiator. the antenna that you installis the"hot" side of your transmitting system. A single antenna with 9 ft or less is recommended, lay acess along the dash, and do not coil or bundle. also, install the antenna on the passenger side, as this is this less used side, check your match with a quality swr meter,as an mfj 259, or such. This is not a cheap piece of equipment, and you may want to have a person at the cb shop use one if he has one available. These meters are sensitive, so do it any other place than a truck stop, to much rf interference. 73's, Rick.
