It should produce 27 psi of boost and can go as high as 32 psi with extra fuel with some tweeking

I have seen boost and atmospheric sensors out of wack telling the ecm a wrong value but still in range so the check engine light would stay out. Also another thing i would do is remove the exhaust from outlet of turbo and inspect the turbine fins for possible damage.Look very close with a good flashlight.

    shogun Thanks this.

My 6nz is doing the same exact thing. It wont go higher than 20 psi. And i tested for leaks and there are no leaks. I hate going uphill cause the truck wont climb at all like the other cats. I think i will look at the ecm parameters next or upgrade them. Any ideas or good programs to use? This truck is governed. Will opening it straight across solve the problem?

Like Mr Haney said it should produce 27 psi boost. Please try and find the problem before you add mods or ecm tuning. If you don't you'll still have the problem. You might get more power (boost), but you maybe masking a problem. Trust me you'll be glad you did.

Have you check the opening pressure of the wastgate actuator? Try removing the signal line and see if the boost comes up. Also make sure the gate is closed, pull off the outlet pipe and take a look at it, check for hot wheel damage when your in there.

Thanks guys for the info. I will check the sensors and turbo fins. I will keep you posted with the outcome. After I fix this problem I would like to upgrade my ECM to the most ponies my stock engine can handle. Maybe go up to 550hp since this 6nz is rated at 475. Any suggestions on what program to chose? Either a 7cz or a heavy hauler?

You have many options on upgrading the ECM for a 6NZ. The engine you have is structural strong enough to handle 1300 Hp and be driven daily without fear of it self destructing.

Pinch the waste gate rubber line and it will build 35psi instantly!
