Hello all. I have a Cobra 29 WX NW BT and was wondering what recommendations are out there for best antennae to match up w/ my CB radio; I drive a Freightliner Cascadia. Would a Wilson 2000 or 5000 be recommended? Thank you for your time and help!
P.S. What is the optimum wattage to have in an antennae? I've seen cb antennaes range from 1000watts to 5000watts...how should I take that info into consideration when buying a CB antennae? Thanks again all for keeping this country rolling!

You should ignore it completely. Mini foam coax RG 8X is not rated above 400 watts and these power claims for antennas are bogus. The odds of you running even 50 watts is remote and if you do run power it will never be close to the claims made for the antennas. Therefore it makes no difference it is nothing more than advertising hype designed to go after your money. You will never be using coax rated as high as the antenna claims so what difference does it make. Pick an antenna which works well. The 5000 has a higher Q coil so is slightly more efficient. You will not see a big difference in range with one VS the other.

I've seen a Wilson 5000 fail with less than 1000 watts input. It just melted.

Thanks for the information...looks like the Wilson 2000 would be the better bet.

I've had both, couldn't tell the difference except in price.
