My state will not give me an IFTA Permit or Stickers. If I want to leave the state of Texas I must purchase Temporary Fuel Tax Permits for each state I travel across.

Does anyone know where this information is compiled on a state by state, Province and Territory basis? The cost for each jurisdiction, the specific website or point of contact, which states you have to purchase this permit online, before you enter the state or at a Port of Entry.

Does anyone have any experience operating under your own authority without an IFTA Permit? I suppose it can be very expensive having to pay for a permit in every state you travel in. Is it worth doing regularly or would you save it for special, well paying loads?

I have IRP for every state and Province.

Front section of the Rand McNalley Atlas has website info and contact #'s for all 50 states.

Why wont Texas give you an IFTA permit? seems kinda strange.

Usually that is indicative of some unpaid tax liability or issue within the state....they are closely linked.

...just a guess of course... :biggrin_25525: - Hope I'm wrong..

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe base plate in another state and apply for the IFTA account there.

Yes, it is a State Sales Tax issue. I am on a payment plan with the State's Attorney General. They say they won't issue the permit or stickers until it is paid off. At the rate I am going now, that will be 125 years.

I believe there is a section for each state in your atlas for permits
