I have a CDL question about air breaks and Georgia written test requirements I have taken the test once and failed. My question is can you drop the Air breaks part of the test and just go for general knowledge test and come back to the air breaks later in some point because I'm having real problem remembering every little detail with the General Knowledge test and Air Breaks part, 75 question is just a lot for one test for CDL. know this might be stupid question but hey need to ask because I really don't know.

I am not sure about GA, but I am in TN and I just got my CDL permit today..YEAH~! Here, if you pass one part of the test, you pay for that, and a week later, you are allowed to come back and take the other parts of the test. Call the testing center and ask.

Do you think maybe both general knowledge and air brakes might be important to remember at the same time while you're driving a big truck? Just asking...

Read the book one section at a time and answer all the practice questions. The test consist mainly of the same questions you see in the book.
Make you some cue cards with the same questions and the answers on the back.
If you apply yourself and study. It's not that hard. It's multiple choice questions and usually two choices are totally stupid.
After you get your CDL you only have about 1000 DOT rules and regulations to learn. Your pretrip inspection consists of about 105 items.
Are you sure you are up to this? There's alot more to it than just holding a steering wheel.
I have a feeling you are not reading the book. Because the answer to your post is in there too.
You take the whole test and then come back and retake only the parts you failed.Flying Dutchman Thanks this. -
Just about to post the same thing, thank you.
"Just gonna pretrip under the hood today, we'll check the brakes tomorrow or maybe after the weekend..."

Unless you're just planning to drive a straight truck with hydraulic brakes, study and re-test. Don't forget there's a third test for combination vehicles (semi+trailer) you ought to get while you're in there.
You just need to buckle down and study the book. The hardest part to remember is the braking distance chart and the brake pre-trip times and pressure drops for both straight and semi. Also: about a quarter of the questions are repeats just asked a different way. You'll find the answer to a few more just from reading the questions in others. If I recall, you can go back and re-read earlier questions until you submit the test section as complete. -
If I remember right, you can skip questions in the computer test and it doesn't count against you. It's when you try to answer and pick an incorrect one that it counts. Thing is, none of this stuff is rockets science. It's mostly common sense.

they make you wait if you fail it twice in a row i do believe.

You can take a practice test at http://www.cristcdl.com/otc/, and some other sites if you do a google search

In Wisconsin its 3 seperate tests, you can take one or all of them if you allow enough time for each one. If you fail one of them 5 times you must wait a year to retake it.
