Settlement sheets from Jan. 8, 2010. Includes fuel advances, comdata fees, trailer rental, occupational insurance, our equipment fees, bond, and license fees for 2009 and 2010. License/Sticker fees for multiple states appear as permits. Oversize permit fees are usually paid by our agent.
We bought a trailer in March 2010, so we no longer pay rental.
We already had tarps and other stuff, so our equipment fee was less.
This was coming off a $4500 repair for a rear differential at X-mas, hence the advances on fuel. Hubby just gets in the habit of advances, sometimes, as well. I have to get on to him about it, because he doesn't need it and I HATE paying Comdata and CRST, $4 bucks a pop.
We leave 40% of pay on Com card. Send 60% home.
So, take home for this load was $1048.65. We left $699.10 on Com card for fuel.Attached Files:
catahoula Thanks this. -

More recent settlement. Still can't break him from the advances; but he's better.
The license fee is a drastic increase because our apt. was a total wreck after a hail storm. We put our stuff in storage and lost our residency status. We got our plate through Malone. Because hubby insists Malone do our IFTA, at a cost of $350 a year, it's about the same price. We were paying OK $1800 for a tag and CRST $382 for states. Now it's $2149 for tag and states. (I would prefer to keep our own tag)
We gave up the OAP. I called to check on the program and spent 2 days in a run-around, starting with AIG. I would rather stash more money in savings and take our chances, than play detective, if hubby got hurt.
CRST-Malone offers very good insurance to administrative workers in Birmingham. (Glad to know part of our 25% is put to good use!)
Drivers are currently offered a plan from Wellmark Iowa. Either the Bridge, or Alliance Select. http://external.crstpay.com/driver/2011 Coverage Manual - Bridge Plan.pdf
Alliance Select:

Prices have really come down since Obamacare was enacted. Also, CRST-Malone only offered some fly-by-night care at truck stop clinics, for drivers, before. It was laughable. Our agent had AFLAC in for drivers and I missed it. I will have to check if that was for company drivers, or what.
CRST-Malone used to be owner-op. Now, they are bringing in more lease-to-buy drivers and the folks who own their trucks are leaving. Hell, CRST is trying to take over the BEST agents and wants their customers!
I find it hard to believe anyone would buy some crappy truck from CRST, put that much money in a maintenance account, only to lose it, at the end and that's where we're headed. The company makes beaucoup, runs everyone like company drivers, and few speak up. The old-timers are leaving and we can't get a broker load, because the safety rating sucks.
Some days - Landstar looks REALLY good!Attached Files:

On my taxes, everything is tax deductible.
-
Wow! I understand all the tax deductons certainly lower your tax burden to what should be nothing.(seems you should get back a big return) It would just be better to receive it all through the year rather than having your deduction money working for someone else. Yea the 4 dollar fees and .25 sheet faxing cost are BS but if it can all be written off seems to be a wash as long as it is 100% deductible. Pay me now or pay me later! like you truckfam as long as your equipment and or truck is paid for should be fairly profitable.
-
Here's the deal, if you don't pay taxes, you stash the money, buy stock.
You can't get a straight mortgage, because you don't make money. We can buy a farm, however, because our account is a business account.
My Dad ran into this. He owns a business, but he doesn't make money on his taxes. He was SHOCKED the bank wouldn't give him a mortgage.
According to our taxes, we qualify for fed housing - nicest apartments where we live. Guess where we live? We would also qualify for food stamps. When I'm done with deductions, we make $1500 bucks for the year.
The only taxes we pay are IFTA and the 2290. -
Just for fun, I posted a statement from Jan 2010 and one from Sept. 14, 2011. We fall in the middle. Some guys rarely run and make much more than we. We can sit and make $600 bucks in a casino. Hell, we made $700 bucks in a casino, waiting for this load to be ready.
I'm guessing the guys who don't get loads don't have a laptop, don't use a loadboard, or don't have a decent dispatcher. Sorry for them. -
Yes that would be a big no-shi$#%ter on the tally for the year. I'm guessing your apartment may be your sleeper lol or maybe since you mentioned fed housing that you have one in FHA type apartments. Housing for me is no issue, My wife and I suck at casinos, what she loses in the one arm bandits I win back at the crap tables so we barely escape breaking even with the exception of a free hangover. I agree a lot of folks out there still count on a local dispatcher by phone to get their load or sit around in a truck stop talking crap and complaining about their company. I'm not sure on the fault of the saftey rating except for wandering if it is due to the lease operators or perhaps the owner ops that are being hired and dont really care about their rigs as long as it will start when they turn the key. Is the YTD earnings you show for this year the total to your truck before deductions such as fuel, ins, maint exp etc? thanks
-
YTD is what goes to our accounts, from every paycheck. 40 percent goes to comdata for fuel. 60 percent goes to the house. 10 percent goes to savings, maybe IRA. Deductions come at the end of the year. If you are asking about a check...for $860. $344 goes to fuel. $516 goes to the house. $51.60 goes in savings.
We have a really nice apt in fed housing. $150 per month, can't beat it.
Sometimes I ante up for tires, I stash for the 2290. We don't have kids, so our cost of living is very low.
Our new dispatcher is pretty good. ###### site better than the one we had before.
I frequently wonder how we would raise kids. Glad we don't have 'em.
