Stormy,no matter what you read on here I for one will say you did the right thing

As for the COUNTLESS other "Professional" drivers to reply so negatively to this person well all I can say is,, Shame on You,jeez at least meet the OP 1/2 way and take the story for whats its worth,we have seen this countless times and what if that happened to you???

Dont throw scenario's not in evidence to the OP's story to make your point,it just doesnt add to the conversation and it makes your point moot as to how it pertains to the OP's story

The constant use of the term,,"Idiot 4 Wheelers" now how does this term help?,Im pretty sure they have the same regard (and term) for truckers when truckers do something "Not in the norm"

Its just funny/strange for the most part drivers who responded in a negative light backed up the driver ,,JUST BECAUSE HE WAS A DRIVER:biggrin_2554:

But if OP was a driver suddenly IM SURE then the shoe would be on the other foot and all of you would be lined up to take a verbal swipe at the Palmentare driver

    Try this works for me:

The Smith System stresses eye discipline and the idea of space cushion

    aim high in steering

    get the big picture

keep your eyes moving or scanning

    leave yourself an out

    make sure others see you.

I was just pointing out that companies
Don't fix problems, tend to just replace them

And stated the fact if I reported every bad
    Driver I ran across in a day. I'd have 5 & 6
different people to report on everyday
And sometimes its just simple error
I have missed cars my mirror was
Blocking, I was always able to catch myself
    Before anything happened
My guess was she seemed far enough away

We do have that blind spot behind the mirror. That's why you look, look the other way then look again...BEFORE putting your foot on the accelerator. If that means you sit for a minute or two, I guess you sit and wait. If one or two minutes is enough to make you late, you're going to be late anyway. Might as well relax and make it good.

Hey....all I said was Stormey tried too hard, got too anxious, didn't let up for a second, never came up for air, and presented him/her self to the company as one great big impatient pain in the ###. And buy the time the company listened to all the phone messages, read all the faxes, and paid the Pony Express rider for the telegram.....they were freak'n done with him/her regardless of "the story".

He/she should have made ONE phone call to the safety department, per day, until he/she was satisfied with a responce. Nobody likes a tattle-tale (we learned that as kids) in the first place. Especially when they use 3 or 4 methods in one day as if there was nothing else going on in their day.

If I worked in the safety department at a trucking company, and someone left 2 or 3 messages on my machine, and blew up my fax machine every 5 minutes, etc.... the only reply they'd get from me is STOP IT!!! I GET IT, HE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF YOU...DID YOU GET A TRUCK NUMBER? WHAT? NO TRUCK NUMBER? THEN LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!

I've checked all of Stormey's posts and all I can find is a phone call the evening it happened, a fax the next day and a commitment to keep at it until they responded.

If the key parts of the OP's story are true I don't see how anyone can defend it. The driver made a really stupid move.

The thing I always wonder when I read threads like this is why do so many drivers have such a hate on for 4 wheelers that they will blindly defend anything a truck driver does?

For the same reason some folks have to assign blame to a mega-fleet driver when an incident involves a big carrier vs. a small company when the same scenario is played out a few months apart with roles reversed in the second.

An example of this is a CRST was rear ended when he was creeping along I-80 by a small company and it was CRST's fault. Later, a Swift rear ended another truck that was similarly creeping along the interstate and it was Swift's fault.

They have to blame whoever is not like them or whoever is the less "cool" of the people involved in the mixup.
