Would this be somewhere that you would consider staying?

I am in the preliminary stage of planning my retirement from driving. This is one thing that I will give heavy consideration depending on feedback that I receive here as well as local truck stops.

A Bed and Breakfast for PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS ONLY to use during a layover or weekend away from home!

It will be a one price covers all deal (for one person and a 12 hour stay) to include:

    · An exterior tractor wash
    · All clothes washed, dried and folded
    · Private room with King size bed
    · Thirty minutes of relaxing in a spa-tub followed by a professional massage.
    (Sorry but no happy endings!)
    · Free Wi-Fi
    · 2 Meals
    · Coffee and Coffee to go!

    On the menu:
(You would choose one Entrée, two sides and your choice of bread and a dessert)

    Dinner Entrée’s
    · Slow smoked Pork barbeque
    · 16 oz Porterhouse
    · Southern Style Fried pork Chops
    · Southern Style Fried Chicken
    · Smothered and Covered baked Pork Chops
    · Baked Italian Style Chicken
    · Spaghetti with meat sauce
    · Farm raised Catfish –fried or baked.

    Dinner side dishes
    · House Salad
    · Pinto Beans
    · Navy Beans
    · Corn on or off the cob
    · Coleslaw
    · Baked Beans with Sausage
    · Potato Salad

    Bread (One Choice)
    · Yeast Rolls
    · Cornbread muffins
    · Blueberry Muffins

Desserts will be dictated by what fruits are in season
    · Pie
    · Cake
    · Cobbler

Lunch Menu (Homemade Soup and your choice of sandwich or salad)

    Soups (All Homemade)
    · Chicken Noodle
    · Vegetable Beef
    · Chili w/ beef and beans

    Sandwiches
    · Chunky Tuna salad
    · Chunky Chicken Salad
    · Shredded Steak
    · BLT
    · 2 grilled Cheese

    House Salad
(Salads are: Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, sweet onions, and radishes.)

    Breakfast Menu
    · 2 Pancakes; Banana, Banana Nut, Apple, Blueberry, Strawberry, Spiced Pumpkin or plain.
    · 2 Farm fresh eggs: Cooked to order
    · 3 Thick slices of apple wood smoked bacon or 2 handmade patties of fresh ground sausage
    · Biscuits or toast

    OR

    · 4 slices of Cinnamon Raison French Toast
    · Biscuit with sausage gravy
    · 3 Thick slices of apple wood smoked bacon or 2 handmade patties of fresh ground sausage

There will be a private pen and a fenced in communal run for your dog/s to stay. Sorry no indoor pets.

This will also be a Reservation only B&B ( at least 8 hours notice) and you must make your choice from the menu when reservations are made. This is how I will be sure to serve everything when it is at its perfection. Nothing under a warmer!

Well folks that was the easy planning. Finding the best property, location, permits, licenses etcetera will be completed over the next few years. Again this will all depend on the response I get here and other places.

If you notice I did not put a price on this; that will be a big part of your feedback. What would it be worth to you to be spoiled rotten for 12 hours at a B&B like this?

One more thing that you should know; I already have a local produce farm, various local orchards and a USDA butcher who only buys from area farmers. I only shop local for all of my meats and produce now and this will not change. Only the menu would.

Okay ---now how about some feedback folks?

Why would you want to do this?
Have you calcualted a ROI on this venture yet?
Do you have a tolerance for filthy pigs, stolen linens and damaged property?

I couldn't imagaine wanting to do this but...different strokes for different folks.

It could work, thought about it myself. The only reason we don't do the Hotel thing unless we have to is the safety and theft problem. A room for a night isn't worth it if someone gets in your wagon or makes off with some fuel.

On the positive side, once you sit a driver in your hot tub you'll only need about a quart of hot water to bring the water level up to the top.

Good Luck, Oh- and it sure would be nice to hire the Texas Bikini Team for those massages, not some guy named "Bruce" or "Victor" from San Francisco...

REALLY...... filthy pigs, stolen linens and damaged property?

...once you sit a driver in your hot tub you'll only need about a quart of hot water to bring the water level up to the top.

If this is the best you can do to be civilized than I'll ask you to remove your post!

As far as anyone having to worry about theft from me or anyone else in my family. We have worked for every penny we have and everything we own!

Having a stressful day over there?

No one's uncivilized here, you're mistaking humor for fact. And theft? Not you, silly boy- we're worried about the bad guys that see parked trucks and want to relieve them of their contents.

We're both business people here, you have to keep your head in business or you'll lose it.

Chill- time for a cold one!

No Dave I'm not having a stressful day. I find insults to be less than humorous.
As far as all of us being business owners, I would hope that as business owners folks would act like one, once in awhile, at least when talking business. To me business is not a place for jokes especially tasteless / classless one! As far as peering eyes go, that will not be an issue. Right now I live on a 300 acre farm and nobody comes on this property without me knowing it. I have cameras everywhere and it probably doesn’t hurt that I have 5 very big dogs that run free on my property. If I decide to make a move to start something like a B&B for truckers I will not be downsizing and no one will see any trucks from the road. I have lived in high crime areas but where I am at now, I haven’t locked my doors in years. My gates yes but not my doors.

I'm only a common man- with scarred, bruised knuckles and some scary sun damaged skin, but I respect everyone. Even folks that are intolerant.

My friend, if you have been insulted today you should forget your dreams of a Trucker's B&B. You don't have what it takes to negotiate with tired, angry, impatient, aggressive, insulting, overbearing and SCARY Truckers.

There WILL be problems in your B&B, and most of them will be generated by the customers that you host. You will be abused by them. They will get in your face and harrass you, threaten you, insult you, and even inflict some real physical pain if you push them back with a snooty attitude.

My friend, go home, stay away from here- you are so easily insulted that you could not possibly survive trying to serve truckers.

I'm very sorry my friend, but you don't have the balls to be here- go away.

    Okay, I ate.

For one it's a hour away from the interstate. No trucker is going 2 hours out of their way and that limits you to trucks going to Richmond from the TN area. Your traffic will be very limited to regulars. It would take $60-70 fuel to get in and out.

The OTR drivers that might have the rare run through there won't know about you, let alone know to call in advance to make reservations. They would actually have to be delivering in the Farmville area and have some free time to boot.

If you were by a major interstate, it would be a different story.

The menu can be cut way down too. Though attractive, it's way too much stock and trouble to cook all that for the few that would stop. Any driver would be happy to eat a choice of 2 dinners. Any driver would be more than happy to eat any homecooked meal you stuck in front of them.

No way would my pets sleep outside. I'm out! :)

Keep thinking though. You'll come up with something good.
