Actually OH is lenient on first offense and that is 0 points on your license. First offense you have to go 21 over to get 2 points out of 12 points allowed.
Second offense you get 1 point for each 5 over. Third offense they nail you.
You can even get a vehicle manslaughter conviction in OH and it's only 6 points. You might serve time, but you only get 6 points.
Pay your ticket on time and keep your nose clean. OH bases the 12 point system on 2 years. Late on paying the ticket and they will suspend your CDL and you'll have to pay a reinstatement fee.otherhalftw and THBatMan8 Thank this. -
While your advice about speeding is spot on, the reality is that people make mistakes and get caught doing so. Even good drivers.

And next year,
when your perfect job magically appears,
you get turned down because of this ticket............
Good career making decision !!!Big Don Thanks this. -
Yes, people make mistakes. You need to consider the fact that these mistakes can be fatal.

1 speeding ticket isn't going to stop most companies from hiring you.CondoCruiser Thanks this.

OF course they can. That is why crashes happen. Have YOU never screwed up while driving?
I'm not defending breaking motor vehicle laws. Not at all. I am saying that mistakes do happen. -
By screwing up do you mean missing a turn, or making a wrong turn? I do that all the time. If you mean by speeding or other traffic violations then no, I haven't. The only times when I'll speed is when there is no placed warning sign of a dropped speed limit. Sometimes you'll go around a corner on a highway through a city to find the speed limit suddenly dropped from 60 to 45. That's not a screw up on the drivers part though as I don't have x-ray vision to see through obstacles. I immediately correct it though.

So you are trying to tell us that (according to your profile,) you are 30 years old, have been driving professionally for 10 years, and yet you have never violated a traffic law? I'm sorry, but I flatly do not believe that.

What a sissy, set your cruise to 50mph, spoken like a real company driver, from jb hunt, you don't have to worry about tickets cause your truck won't go fast enough, I bet your 3 days late on all deliverys.
