While truck drivers are SUPPOSED to be more skilled and professional than the average driver, we are not perfect and there is always the chance for human error. And there are bad truck drivers too, just as there are bad pilots, bad train engineers, etc...
Whether he deliberately pulled out in front of you or just didn't see you will remain unclear. The fact that he didn't stop completely, well there is no excuse for that. I have driven with a shot clutch and yes it sucks but you just have to be careful and adjust fire to situations. If he was driving with a bad clutch I agree that pulling in front of you was the wrong thing to do.
And you are right, a higher stance gives a truck driver a better view of the road ahead in general, BUT there are a lot of blind spots, especially on the sides on a tractor/trailer, caused by fender mirrors, the huge side mirrors and door pillars. I have had a few close calls, involving cars being obstructed by my mirrors. Then when i move to pull out, the car stays blocked by the mirror.
If the company has the newer Quallcomm satellite tracking on their trucks, they will be able to tell exactly what speed he was going at that point within 5 or 10 feet, as well as brake application. Trucking companies big and small get complaints over the phone and in the email...to put it bluntly they may not look into your complaint much farther. If this specific driver has had complaints against it before they may take it much more seriously.
Even in my short 7 or so years driving a big truck I keep seeing more and more unprofessional and reckless acts from 4 wheelers and CMV drivers alike. I am not perfect and make mistakes once in a while but I do my best to try and be safe and not inconvenience or endanger others. WIth no accidents and no tickets since 2003 I like to think I am doing something right...
My advice is to just chalk that driver up as a bad driver, let the company deal with it as they see fit and move on. Maybe he was having a bad day, maybe you were too.
Drivers pay attention!!

And you still responded

"Responded" would imply that I was answering a question, or ansewring something directly posted for me or my situation.
I "commented"...not "responded". -
Alright, point made. I hadn't been having a bad day until that episode, but I got over it right quick. Once I made contact with the company and they assured me the driver was one who had not had a complaint before. Allegedly, once the driver was talked to, he was receptive to the criticism and possibly made them aware that the intersection was a tough one to maneuver. Granted I was a bit hot initially, but I calmed down and reviewed the situation. I write things like that down as soon as possible so that I don't forget details (old EMT habit). I'm entirely happy with the outcome of the incident and will hold by my earlier statement that everyone is accountable for their own actions and what ever consequences result. I don't make excuses or try to second guess other drivers intentions and no one else should either. That's akin to enabling bad habits.

Bullhaulers wife, I deal with traffic delays, construction, re-routing as best I can. I've gotten lost many a time and don't mind it a bit. You are the one who seems to have a problem understanding that I have a right to complain, just as you do. And I am not a police officer, I just work for the police. So, don't give me grief about "unprofessional" actions. Had I been an officer I would have probably stopped the driver (providing I could safely do so) to find out what was going on. As it was, I, being a (obviously in your mind) just a girl driver, too stoopid to know how tough it is being a truck driver or even a driver at all, obviously have no clue about anything. You (obviously in your mind) know it all and know better than I ever could. You must be related to my ex-husband.

In Bullhaulers wife's defense.....
You told on yourself there!

You know, I almost forgot that not everyone is supposed to have an opinion. Or that everyone should think like just "one" person. Oh, no, that's wrong!!
Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, express an opinion and have that opinion validated (or not). There is always the potential to "agree to disagree" and not think one person's opinion is more right than another's.
