I live in Tampa, FL and I'm thinking about going with Prime with the tanker division. Do you know how often they get down to Florida? How often do the refer's get down here?
Thanks.

I don't think we have a tanker guy posting here. That being said, you should probably check with recruiting because the availability of slots for folks south of I10 changes constantly.
Can you spell T-R-O-P-I-C-A-N-A? We get to the Tampa area fairly regularily on the reefer side. It's our ticket out! -
Never heard of a tanker running in Florida. All Ive heard is northeast

We have a new tanker terminal outside Ft. Wayne, IN, and I saw quite a few of them headed in and out of the SW on I-40 this last week. Don't know if I've ever seen one in FL though.

Maybe they are expanding...

I called their main recruiting number today to ask about how far in advance of my being available I should apply (3 weeks or so) and he then spent about 5 or 6 minutes querying me on where, exactly, I lived because I'm on the northern edge of their hiring zone. He told me the information on the website is mostly correct, but anyone interested in driving that is not clearly in their area should call them directly because their needs change and so does their hiring area.

Hey all, I have not been here in quite some time. I have talked Iron Pony's ear off once or twice on the phone while I was trying to figure things out. I went through training on the reefer side and as I was getting ready to upgrade after training I had a sweet deal offered to me. A lease operator who runs several trucks wanted to put me in a brand new cascadia and have me run teams and eventually train etc. It seemed too good to be true and apparently it was as management didnt approve, said that I would have to pay all my training $ back before I could drive for him. I dont have it and after about an hour of combined phone time between my dispatcher and the powers to be, i am not trying to pursue this any longer.
I have since upgraded and was running miles/team on the reefer side. I came home and picked up my tanker endorsement. I talked to the head of the tanker division and will be starting tanker shortly. I will be driving company side after about 3 weeks training.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated, please feel free to message me but as IP will vouch, I can be a pain in the butt. I have a lot of questions but I do have quite a few out of the way already..
I am in the upstate NY region, any tanker drivers know if there is a lot of product hauled nearby that area? -
Finally we will have a tanker yanker on the board!
