Volvo trucks are solid, with any engine other than volvo. That's why they r cheap. No one wants them.

I couldn't imagine how bad resale would be on a volvo with the mega fleets dumping them on the used truck market by the 100's... :puke:

I heard about the electrical issues when they first came out.
Then I saw a guy get out from under a new one covered from
head to toe with grease. He asked me if I new about Volvo electrical,
I said "I heard to stay away from it". He said he wished he'd heard that

BTW, old Volvo Trucks with D12A/B and Volvo '98 electronic version were very reliable w/o wiring issues. problem appeared when Version2 way more then year on market.

I work for comapny that used volvo from 80-s. there are 300 Version-II trucks and I cant imagine how many wires I had to twist.

The bad place is cabing to chassis wires. Especially on cabovers.
Wires are usually broken under cabin in place really not good to access!!!

On US trucks only one cab-chassis connector is used, on EU trucks there are dosen of connectors, but... all wires are in one harness so it is really a lot of work. Sometimes it is easier to bypass bad wire with new.

My last truck I owned was a Volvo. Overall it wasn't too bad of a truck. It rode good and rarely broke down. But when it did break down you better be prepared to break out the checkbook because the bill was NEVER small.

Like alot of the other guys here, mine had electrical problems out the ###. Other than the electrical problems it was random things like the exhaust manifold started leaking ($1200) @ volvo. The power steering pumps do not last. 3 pumps ($1300 x 3) and different things like that. Those were just 2 examples where I knew the prices. If you want to deal with the fact that not many people will work on them so the prices are more than others. Overall, I would not buy nor recommend someone buying one.

Well IMO I would the ride is great and yes it is more expensive for parts as far as working on them I can do anything that needs to be done. Yeah KW's are good trucks if you like Mexican made trucks same with Frieghtliner and they leak air water and dirt like a tent. and Petes to me are a status symbol."real truckers drive Petes" but as they say to each there own.
