after 10 years of driving and being away from kids and wife...i am moving into dispatch position in two weeks. yes the pay will be less, but only slightly. The pay off...weekends off, off by 5 daily and see my kids and kiss the wife every day. NOW THATS living.

Seen every state and city more times than i care...my tourist days are thankfully over. WIll i miss aspects of it...for sure.

    Hi Universal,

Just wondering what is your starting pay, if you're willing to share? If not, that's cool. Thanks in advance

Now that your moving over to the other side, let's hope you don't forget what it was like being a driver. Respect is earned.

That is the scary part. The dispacters then tell the drivers ' I don't want to hear excuses'
Meanwhile an excuse is not needed. Common sense is needed.
Straight facts sound like an excuse. Can't win with dispatchers because they were drivers too :smt120

A thankless job because 99.9% have their brain removed implanted with company bullcrap from a suit that never shifted a gear

I have spent upwards of 44 years in the trucking industry and the last 7 years as a dispatcher due to an on the job injury that will not allow me to go back driving...well i for one, treat my drivers the way i wanted to be treated when i was a driver and i can guarantee you all my drivers will atest to the fact that i'm a great dispatcher...as for money, before the big downturn in the ecomony i was making in excess of 60K per year but due to downsizing and restructering i'm now around 55k per year and very satisfied as i will be retiring permanently in about 6-8 months.

    Mdb Thanks this.
