Hi all my name is Linda my boyfriend Tom is the trucker and I am new to all this so please excuse my interruption. I have been watching this post for some time while investigation the options for his Cobra 7700. He is not very computer savvy and his unit had never had any firmware updates. Having done all of those it still wasn't giving him the items he wanted mostly which was mile markers and state lines. We have been doing side by side comparisons of the Rand McNally and the Cobra 7750 and I just thought it crazy to spend another $400 so I called Cobra this morning and got a very pleasant surprise. I was told that his 7700 could be mailed in for $167 and be upgraded to the 7750. They would return it within 10 days and would have exactly those two items plus about 50 more. This option makes much more sense. I have no idea why this information isn't made public. Hope this helps some of you out there. I am still learning the truckers life and find it most interesting. Thanks for this forum.

Mine was acting up on Sunday. Constantly locking up. It has done it in the past when I was going from Briley Parkway to stops in Clarksville TN. It would lock up just before the ramp or exit to get on I-24W.
Yesterday it quit working all together. All it will do now is light up with the pic of the big truck and go no further.
This unit was 1 year old in April this year.
Another thing it does when coming out of Camden TN to Nashville on 641 it calls I-40 I-140 and shows I-140 on the display.
Leaving BP on 51st street to go East on I-40 it tries to route you up to Charlotte Pike. When you cross under the interstate Alabama Ave is a direct shot to the on ramp going East.
Going from Nashville to Old County House road in White Bluff if you get off on exit 182 it will try and route you all the way into Dickson to the hwy 70-hwy 96 intersection rather than direct you to White Bluff road. (way out of the way) If you take White Bluff road it will attempt to turn you around. This is on the truck setting or the car setting. -

Here is some updated info on a few previously reported issues on the latest map update:
Installing the update completely wipes out all saved Favorite points - The installation literature that comes with the disc does not warn about this happening. Now I have to revisit all of the 3 dozen or so saved locations all over the country to rebuild this tool. ( I can't enter addresses on most of them because the map doesn't plot the addresses accurately). Thanks a bunch for this little "help", Cobra.
This one is actually my fault. I wrote the installation instructions, into which I added a statement that the address book would be wiped out. The above comment was in regards to that statement. I double-checked and the address book is NOT affected. I have since removed that statement from the installation instructions. Sorry!
Also, you still can't plot a straight line course on I-70 from Columbus OH to Harrisburg PA through West Virginia.
Using default truck settings, the nav unit does route straight down I-70. Most likely there is an issue with one of the settings. We would need to try running the route using the same truck settings. There very well may be a restriction, especially in WV.
The ability to search for specific travel centers by name has been severely crippled, as I noted in my first quote above. There's no excuse for this. Like most larger companies, my corporation has fueling agreements with specific brands that I'm required to use. Not being able to search for just those names along a route (as was formerly possible) is a major blow to the Cobra GPS model 7700's usefulness to me. I don't understand why you can no longer search for Pilots and Loves by name at all.
This is a software issue that our engineers have identified and are working to resolve.
