Jose drove the company car from the shop in marshfield to orientation so he could go test out...
thought he was going to keep the car all day...wanted a lunch and snack break during the testing...

I had a dude so big that he had to tilt the wheel all the way up for his belly. His belly was so big he couldn't see the ignition. He had to open up the door to see around his belly to get the key in. He said, "Maybe if they put some hair around it, I could find it." I am still disturbed by those mental images to this day.

I had Dennis from Fl in 06. Was a great trainer and I think I was #35 for him.

Next was Dan from NY and he showed me alot.

I left Roehl after 2 1/2 yrs and now work for TWT pulling a tanker.

I was suppose to have had him, but circumstances changed where I got J. Villa. Very nice guy and would probably be very good for new drivers.
I just ended up boring him to death because not too many bad habits to change and we ended up teaming most of the time to make our loads.
I'm sure he made out with the miles we did together. :biggrin_25525:

What a great idea for a thread! I had Curt Mohney(Reef) and Craig Dunbar(van) and I liked both of them! Curt is an easy going guy who likes a buffet a day. Craig is a stubborn ultra-conservative who loves to talk. Just like me! So we naturally butted heads a little bit in the truck, but I consider him to be a very good trainer and I am glad I had him. But, if you are a liberal, I would seriously advise you to not get in his truck and wait for the next available trainer. But then again, if you are a liberal you wouldn't be on the Roehl forum because Roehl is a company. Real liberals don't believe in employment and therefore would not be on this site.

I had Howard M (aka Howie) for a trainer back in 2002. He was or still is been with Rohel, been there for a long, long time. He only yelled at me 2 times during training, (not really) and always made sure I had enough to eat, (really) as he always brought food out with him. He always made sure I had lots of pepsi to drink while I was driving too....When I go back into trucking, more than likely at Roehl, I hope I am assinged to a trainer like Howie....

Yeah that's the Bob I had for evo 1. So PA is full of Bobs huh? I told him about this thread on this forum and he said he'd have to check it out if he could figure it out.

Hahaha, I heard about that! This guy is something of a mini celebrity I guess.

    -------------

John S. is a 14/7 trainer out of Mogadore (Akron), OH. I had him for evo 2. He's a good guy, he's fair, and he has a good method. I found him very easy to get along with, too. We had a personality click, I hadn't laughed so hard in a while with some of the stuff we joked about.

One story I have to tell. For my evo training, I wasn't sure how it was going to go. So in the interest of saving money, and flexibility, I packed 10 days worth of trail food with my stuff. Stuff like fiber one bars, dried prunes, apricots, and other assorted fruit, mixed unsalted nuts, some cereal bars, and individual packets of gatorade mix for a 32oz water bottle I brought. We typically had a hot truck stop dinner. This diet was not what I was used to and my stomach found it slightly unsettling. Needless to say, neither trainer had encountered such horrific, offensive gas in quite some time, if ever. I'm still in touch with them both and once in a while they'll comment on how they're still trying to air out the seat.

    Good thread....
I have seen it from both sides as a trainee and a trainer!
I trained in '02, Roehl had you out with one trainer, then you went out with another newbie for the second part of training
My trainer was Jerry U. from OKC
To this day I still am in contact with him and his wife.
He visited me out here in the NW just a few months back.
Ultimate professional trainer and credit to the industry.
When I took up the role as a trainer myself I patterned my style much the way he showed me.
He left Roehl for a time then went back but said the company was not the same and he did not like what it had become and moved on.
Now we (trainers) need to start a thread about our trainees!
Stay safe out there guys gals....
