w and the fbi have been monitoring my cell phone calls since 911.
i live such an interesting life they are lapping it up!
if you have no experience maybe you have to deal with their gizmo"s for a year before you have a choice.
if your fm is creep move on.
i wonder if they gonna monitor these mexican trucks they been lobbying for like they gonna do their newby drivers?

No my friend, a truly professional driver does need all this babysitting slash spying slash a dispatcher/company's nose up our rear end. A truly professional driver is aware that there are good ways, and poor ways, to do the same job, and they choose to do it the good (safe, efficient, courteous) way.

I challenge you to find 500 "professional" drivers to work at my company then. 70% of the folks I come across don't have the slightest idea how the HOS work, let alone trip planning. If it was left to the driver to push themselves to become better, things would not change for the better.

sounds like your company needs to have some classes to teach the drivers.
the HOS and trip planning. to help them become better at their jobs. how do you think they will learn if they have nothing to learn with. did you learn what you know from day one by yourself with out schools, classes, books and all that kind of stuff. no you didn`t. :biggrin_25520:

Sorry to hear that, You must be a very slow learner. and needed it. :biggrin_25513:
Not all drivers need that kink of training. most people can learn if given the chance and a way.

I'm probably not that slow of a learner, however in an industry that is so highly regulated drivers cannot be allowed to figure things out by failing. Having someone watch over them and correct behaviors in a timely fashion while providing alternative solutions will get people up to speed at a much more acceptable rate. There simply isn't time to let people learn by trial and error.

    Micro management and baby sitters?

If anyone in the trucking industry needs that type of motivation then they have no business in the industry.

I have been in and out of the seat and will say for my personal experience this, micro manage me and you had better be someone that has answers that are true and correct.

Leadership principles, if you cannot do what you ask of others then you have no place to be a leader.

To add to this If you had good training on HOS and trip planning you would not need to baby sit. Training is the key in all things done. Teach people right and you do not need all the other BS. Bad training, poor teachers, = poor employes and no baby sitting is going to fix that.

    aiwiron Thanks this.
