Could be sued for...., sure you could be sued. A lawsuit can be filed against anyone for anything. They could sue you because they don't like the way you comb your hair, or because you have none. If someone, or especially a lawyer starts trying to intimidate you with these things, don't have a hissy fit, thinking that you need to change for them.
If you have a company policy in place that prohibits certain actions, appearance, dress codes, then they can sue all they want. I would say they stand a snowball in heck's chance of winning it though. -
As long as they aren't obscene, no one really cares. I did 11 and change in the Corps and I'm sleeved. Would it hurt you trying to work in a bank, sure. In a male dominated job, not typically. Been out 4 years and have no problem with employment.

I know a carrier that has a very strict dress code for drivers. They will not hire those with beards, long hair or tattoo's that show. They require all drivers to wear their uniforms. They don't seem to have the turnover as some other carriers. The bottom line is simple. You can do whatever you want. You can be a slob, have long hair, grow a long beard and have your entire body with tattoo's. But, you should also be prepared for the consequences. Some companies won't care what you look like as long as you can do the job. Others consider the image drivers present as critical to their business model. Most carriers won't say anything if a driver has a tattoo. When they have excessive tattoo's that show, some could have an issue.

What if you are well groomed, shaved head, long goatee, and tattoos? Not everyone with tattoos is a long haired slob, and not everyone with long hair is a slob.
BTW having tattoos is a choice so discrimination laws really do not apply. I choose to look the way I do. If a company can't handle it then that's their loss. Least I know in a shady truckstop the clean cut guy in the uniform with the pocket protector is gonna get beat up and mugged before I will =oP -
Some of us don't have that luxury, I didn't...... So get used to it, my mom had to...

Being well groomed is more important to me. How an individual carries themselves can also make a difference. But, people should also not want to back away and get out of a room when you enter, either. Like it or not, there is still a stigma attached to tattoo's. -
Yeah, there is. It does come in handy from time to time, or can totally backfire when you walk into a bar and some drunk feels like he wants to fight the toughest looking guy there lol.
When I walk into a shipper receiver I have a smile on my face and a good morning/afternoon/evening on my lips....but when I walk into a shipper/receiver after waiting several hours to be loaded there will be a scowl and no funnybusiness look on my face that totally conveys the fact I am Pi$$ed. -
Tatoo, or age discrimination ????

My company makes me wear long pants because of the tattoos on my legs. I was never dumb enough to get my neck, face or hands done...So no problems there.
