Doesn't this describe a lot of companies? With so many people out of work, Trucking isn't a blue collar dream right now. For every unhappy former employee there are several lean, hungry, scared Trucking School Graduates with student loans and personal debt to pay down. Trucking-10. Workers-0.
Only a blitering imbecile...

All they knew is you were offering a job....and they needed one.
Before I started driving truck in the early 90's.....I NEVER thought about pay and benefits---I just wanted a #### job. Make sence?Nycmex77 and capital 48 Thank this. -
I have 7 years of old solo experience. Found that I would have to go to school to get back into the industry and did so, graduating at the top of my class.
Now, aside from those who advertise how would you propose I find a decent OTR truck driving job? Most of the good ones on TTR are for recent experience only and it looks to me like I am going to have to pay dues all over again.
My dream job would be coast to coast in a well maintained truck that could run the speed limit and a fair cpm. Heck, I don't even need health insurance benefits as I have my own coverage for life.
I'm more than willing to stay out and run for extended periods of time and turn a profit for both the owner of the truck and myself.
Still, what I am finding is most would rather hire based on the completed schooling instead of successful experience. And sadly, that means mega carriers.
I would be grateful if anyone has any other suggestions as it is time for me to get to work!

Start all over.
Contrary to what many people post here, the avenue into or back into the industry is usually with one of the the mega carriers. And that ain't so bad. Most of these people that post against the mega carriers, started with one, themselves.
Do what you have to do, but do what's best for YOU.Nycmex77 Thanks this. -
Your in the same boat I was in. I had to go with Swift and I know there is a lot of ugly with any big company, but they did what they said they would do paid very little and kept me moving. when the time was right I moved on and then my past was more useful to me as the next company was smaller and I got paid way better. you just have to bite the bullet and pay your dues no matter what anybody else thinks or says.
