Yeah I did call back. I spoke to another recruiter, he was cool. I was just in shock I guess because the way everything was going I thought I was going to get the hook up with a great company right out of school. When the previous recruiter stuck it to me I felt like I was touching my toes. LOL. But its all good. I looking into Watkins Shepard they are processing my application. I asked her ten times "My schools ok right?" But anyhow you live and learn. I learned.

Well I Am Thinking Of Calling Crete In A Few Minutes, and The Driver Who Is Moving, I Feel For You I Just Moved To Murfreesboro Tn ( Just Below Nashville) From The Philly Area So I Went Thru The Headaches Of The Move And Now Trying To Get A Good Paying Job Her Seems Like A Joke. At Least On The Local Level.i Cant Prove It And Could Be Wrong But I Have Applied To About 4 Or 5 Local Companies That Pay Decent And Got No Response. And Hell, With 23yrs And A Clean License I Should've Got A Call. Maybe My Freinds At Home Were Right When They Said Good Luck Finding A Job Being How I'm Considered A Yankee. But I Wont Get Discouraged I'll Get Something And The Rest Lose Out On A Good Driver With One Hell Of A Work Ethic.

Hey,Bigdaddysplash, I don't KNOW if this is the case in your situation, but I have recently been in the job market and I noticed that while most good companies do reply (quickly) to on-line apps, I also have not been contacted in reply to my snail-mailed applications. I THINK (and I'll find out in a few minutes) that they may expect YOU to follow up with a call after submitting an app through the mail. Give 'em a call and see if they don't say "oh yes, I have your paperwork right here". just a thought!bb.

If I were you, I would stay with Crete, but unlike a gentleman I know in Crete, you don't want to buy equipment from them. He was doing great until recently when the freight seemed to just back off. He is a guy that loves to run, but now can't hardly keep his truck payments up.

I have seen this many times in my time on the road. NEVER BUY A TRUCK FROM THE COMPANY YOU are LEASED TO.

    That is rule# 1 For Rule # 2, refer to Rule # 1.

Update : I was 100% wrong about Shaffer being reasonable in my re-hire.
I just got off the phone with them and they said that after talking to my Crete manager, I would be required, by SHAFFER, to go back and work that full week underpaid at the Illinois Walmart DC.
I told him I was applying for work in the SE fleet and by no means would accept that blackmail. So my only recourse is to challange the decision by writing to the owner, Dwayne Aklie. But, as with other things, if they are in the wrong as I think they are, then why would I want to fight for a job there. Goodbye Acklie companies.

No I'm not sticking with Crete because I will not work national fleet even if they were on the up and up with everything. They say there national fleet guys average what? 420 miles a day? come on!! that is a joke. I do 700+ every full day I'm on the road and I sure am not going to stay out on the road for weeks on end for 2500 miles a week. I can do that in reverse.

I never said Crete was bad. I thought there were good enough to want to apply with them. I am just posting my experience with them for others to be better informed.

I don't blame you there. I never liked sitting around myself. From what I was told, Crete kept their people busy, but recently the tone I have been getting is a bit different.

There is no reason not to get at least 3,000 per week these days.

I do not know where you get your info from, I have not been with the company very long...I am getting 600 to 700 miles a day working western region. Maybe you did have a bad experience, I am sorry to hear that but please get your facts straight before you post it on here.

When I worked at CCC, I was kept moving. I think I averaged around 3K a week. I never deviated more than 200-300 from that average.

My big gripe with Crete was the fact they seemed to forget where my home was. I spent most of my time while driving for those guys east of the Mississppi River, although I lived in Utah.

After getting on the Western Fleet, Janell in Salt Lake saw to it that I got home about every five days or so. However, I did have to take a pay cut to get on this fleet.
