So for the 5th week in a row, QC has shorted my pay over $1,500 (this week it was $3,500 short) and I am honestly tired of this crap. Not only does it make it very frustrating, but I also have a hard time paying bills when they keep screwing me over....

So my question is, how's the Landstar freight and boards looking for flatbeds and SD around NW Indiana?? Zip is 46391. Not looking for OTR stuff, mainly out-n-back or local around Chicago. I need to net $1,300 a week to cover all my bills (home, truck, taxes, maint ect ect) Which I am sure is do-able with just about ANY company out there, but I would like to be able to get home say one night a week and be off weekends..... any info is helpfull

I took a quick look at the board for stuff picking up and delivering within 300 miles of that zip, and it looks like there's quite a bit of stuff in the mid $2 to $3/mi range, and that's on the outside carrier board before any haggling. I don't think you'd have a problem. (edit) That was a straight flat I looked for, there were a couple of good ($4-5+) legal step-only loads on there too.

I can't help with the landstar question. But if running out and back out of hammond Indiana and Chicago heights Illinois with a flat with weekends off is something you would be interested in. you can pm me and I will give you my number. Small company with direct customers leaving the area and returning(sometimes broker back). Posting from my phone.

There are 240+ loads picking up and delivering within 300 miles from Gary, IN on the board right now with very good rates. I can usually make what you need to make running FL myself, so I doubt you'd have a problem doing that up that way. Come on over if you can't get QC to pay ya.

They got my pay straightened out, just won't get it till next weeks pay. i am just really fed up with all this crap, and I figure i can do some local work and make the same $$$ and drive less....maybe :biggrin_25523:

My current gig pays very well ($4,250 a turn) but it is also for 2,700 miles a week. On the plus side, I run SUPER light and come back empty so the WS gets about 6.8mpg on average. But I figured if I could run 1500 miles a week and get $2+ per mile (including deadhead) then I'd be better off.

I am thinking so as well, and it's very hard to give up a gravy run like I currently have. But I feel that I might be happier doing SD work. I don't mind the manual labor, in fact I welcome it. It gets very boring sitting in a seat and holding a wheel for for 11hrs a day, seeing the same road and hauling to the same place each week. Plus I like a challenge and figure after a year or two I can move into a RGN since that is what my truck was made to haul.

But I also want to be careful I don't regret my choice and wish I had not given up my run. Currently I gross a little over $14,000 a month. But that is if I get 4 loads in and that is dependent on the plant staying up and running. For instance, come October I will only get 2 loads as the plant is shutting down for 3 weeks for scheduled repairs. At least I know in advance about this, but the other times it just pops up and I'm stuck waiting for them to get going again.

So I either need to bite the bullet and just stick with what I know, or jump into the unknown and see where it leads me.

You shouldn't have a problem. Looked for the same thing last week for new O/O with flat and had a lot of options.

I was surprised you went back to them after last time.

PM me with email and can give you an idea.

Any one looking for a o/o let me know because I'm looking to get the hell out of this place I'm at. Every week it gets a little less on the monies and I really hate this container hauling crap. I have a good shape 2007 century that I keep up on, it's not a fancy w900 or anything but it's a good looking clean truck. It was a trade in crete truck. The only reason I've been here a year is that my wife has a part time job or other wise I would be in big trouble and my over head isn't out of line. Clean driving record....0- points. Bill
