You say you'll be out 5 days and home 5 days then you have nothing to worry about.
Your looking at a 2 to 2 1/2 day trip each way. When I ran team we each took 12 hour shifts. Ran 500 to 600 miles each a day and had time for fueling, breakfast/dinner and showers every day.
So in other words each driver would log a total of approx 24 hours drive time on the Toronto to Calgary trip each way. So that's 48 hours of 70 you would use every 5 days or so.
Hope this makes sense, it's 2am and I'm a little tired loltrucker1962 Thanks this. -
I believe he meant 5 hours on duty, 5 hours off duty.

After reading it again after a quick nap I see you are correct... Hence the reason I should stay off these boards late at night lol...

See if you can find a job running single, that way the truck is stopped while you're sleeping. Most long distance jobs are run by team. I have hard time believing drivers get sufficient rest on team operations.
-
Do you think! Trucks are barely comfortable enough without having to try and sleep while it's crashing down the road. There's a real short list of people that I could run team with...I just don't trust that many people with my life!
-
I meant to say if we as a team switched every 5 hrs can we keep the truck rollin study.
-
yea you do that, get some rest first. while i'm at it i'll ask one more thing. that is can I split my sleeper time as 4hrs then 6hrs or 5 and 5 ? What about that 2 hrs i have to take off? I'm having a hard time understanding this new HOS stuff lol. Do I have to finish my 13 hrs of driving within 16 hr shift? or is it 14 Hrs?
-
Thanx, I ran mostly team as I was a Trainer. Yes it does get tough. Been off the road for a awhile and now having hard time understanding new HOS stuff. you know this 2 hrs off , 8 hrs straight , then this 14 hrs on duty then there's 16 hrs lol lol

Yes I have decided to run solo. now help me out with this one. from Toronto to Calgary return trip. Lets say I leave Toronto at 5pm and I drive 4 hrs and fuel up in North Bay and drive for another 3 hrs. Now it's midnight. Do I have to shut it down or I can continue to drive until I reach my 13 hrs of driving into next day? Also do we work with each log sheet for driving , on duty times? what if I came back on after 36 hr reset. take my first load in the late afternoon. will my 24 hrs will count from lets say 4 pm today to 4 pm tomorrow? in this period i can drive 13 hrs, am i right?
