Donger, why not jump in as a company driver first? That way you can find out for sure who are the good outfits and you can make some good contacts while you are driving.

I cannot imagine anyone getting decent sleep in the sleeper while being hauled around these lease roads. Maybe with drugs. But that's not quality sleep.

I am very new to this forum with absolutely no experience in the oil fields. I live in Washington state and am thinking about going to work as a driver in the oil fields this winter. I plan on going home during my time off. Can anyone give any advice on the best way to do it? All I know to do is go to the airport, buy a ticket, and get home. Are there financially better ways to go about it? Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't think you would have more than 48 hrs at a time off very often. Might check out the guy who was out of WA state. He might be able to help you.

What kind of experience DO you have Asphalt Warrior? There are some owner operator/small fleet owners that let their drivers work any schedule that keeps the truck rolling. 2 weeks off and 2 weeks on is a good schedule for a pair of drivers. Do you have any winch truck operating experience?
