I called Stevens a day ago asking what I needed to bring to their school and they told just the application. They tole me that they have a seminar Monday thru Friday at 10:00am and again at 1:30pm and Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:00am. This seminar is for newbies wanting to come to Stevens to work and get the training they need. It lasts about an hour from what they told me.

So I have them email the application to me and I print it out, filled it out and went from Plano, Texas to Stevens school and as anyone who has been to Texas before may know, Plano is not close to Stevens school.

So, I get to the school and finally find the recruiter Katrina. I give her my app and she asks me a few questions like, have you ever been arrested, Do you have a felony? Any DUI's or DWI's and I say no. Next she looks at my app and my work history.

She then asks me where are my tax returns for the past three years and I told her no one told me I needed to bring them. She said we need to see them and you need to have made AT LEAST 10,000 dollars EVERY YEAR for the past three years. I said why do you need that and why that amount?

She said it shows us that you have stability. I know 10,000 a year is not much but I have been living in Mexico City for the past three and a half years and have not made 10,000 dollars every year for the past three years. She said if I didn't then they cannot work with me and then she handed the application back to me and said nothing else.

So...newbies thinking of going to Stevens...take your tax returns with you for the past three years and make sure you made at least 10,000 dollars each of those years or Stevens will not give you the time of day. Or maybe she was discriminating against me since I was the only one in their who looked like he had taken a shower in the last month.

I guess the dirty, nasty looking truckers in there are more stable than me because they made over 10,000 a year for the past three years. Unreal.

That has to be the biggest joke I've heard!

    NOW! LISTEN CAREFULLY!
OBOZO Announced in his last package that he will allow anyone that has been, now get this discriminated against in a job application the "right" to sue the company!
This is what he was talking about!
Stevens has just stepped in a BIG pike of poo they made!
    Here's what it says. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/obama-proposes-letting-jobless-sue-discrimination-191042168.html

If refused a job because you are unemployed you can sue.

This is the same thing. WHAT THE HELLO does your past W-2 have to do with stable employment?

What if you did a part time job that paid over $10.00+ an hour? Would that mean that you are "stable" if you only worked maybe 25 weeks a year? Heck on this site I have my last W-2 that shows (crap what is it??) over $40,000 a year for 25 1/2 weeks that year. That's not what I would call a "stable" work history when I'm laying on a machine getting shot with radiation !

Stephens will be changing that rule real fast!

Heck that idiot company is a freaking training company that can't keep half of their trainees in a truck so what moron college kid came up with that idea that if you worked for some one "steady" and are now looking for another job that you will be there in a week? You're either quitting a job or got canned due to the economy and many moron companies are actually posting on want ads NOT to apply if unemployed! How freaking stupid can anyone get?

This is the exact same thing and before Obozo realizes his mistake that rule will be resended! Get to a lawyer as fast as you can and get some real free money before the rest who were turned down jump on the free money to kill jobs bandwagon and Stephens goes under due to paying out lawsuits!

I love it when a useless POTUS makes a law without thinking it all the way out!

I bet lawyers nationwide have already filed a few thousand of these suits by freeloaders who can read, saw the $$ signs light up in their eyes, looked through a few old news papers and got the names of some really stupid companies and are thinking easy street as they skipped all the way to the shysters office with the lie they applied for a bank presidents job but was turned down because they were unemployed!

Well, at least the lawyers will have jobs and hiring for a while as in needing interns and typists to keep the office work flowing as they are counting all those eggs before they hatch!

OH! $10,000 ( http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/11poverty.shtml ) is $890 below the poverty level of $10,890 as set by your gooberment! So that piddling $10k amount is as bogus as it gets! They didn't even do their homework before pulling that out of someones arse! Goes to show the level of education or the level of a CEO being employed these days! Not very high!

WHO can live on that amount of money?

That's $192.30 a week NOT the $209.42 the gooberment thinks you can live on! I guess rent is free these days along with power and water!

What moron at Stephens came up with it? I would really like to hear where he/she pulled that number from and I wonder if he's even tried to live on that amount for even a month! This shows that upper management in trucking has become brain dead! No wonder trucking has become a cesspool and the world is dying from abuse of the ignorant called upper management and politicians!

Stevens started that idiotic crap back in '07, if not before, but it wasn't a requirement, just a preference. If it's now a requirement, I guess the owner prefers to see more of his pretty trucks sittingon the Dallas yard rather than out on the road making him more money...maybe he has too much money already?

My rent is almost $10,000 a year. So how do you live on less???? Who lives on less the 10,000??? If your in a tent maybe. I'm just asking.
So from all the posts I have seen. Us Canadians make way more the you Americans. Most of us, me and the drivers I know bring in about $50 or $60. And some more than that. Between the wife and I we get about $90,000 a year or more. How does one live on just 10,000???

Believe it or not, down here in the good ol' US of A, there are plenty of people living on 10,000 or less. You'll find most of them in the service industry, working places like WalMart and fastfood joints. And yes, it does suck. It's why when I hear truckers whining about "not being able to make it" on $30,000 or more per year, I just want to throttle them sometimes. Yes, trucking is hard, and underpaid. But it beats the hell out of minimum wage paid factory work or burger flipping or shelf stocking part time with zero benefits...

Stevens can take the income requirement and stick it. Want job stability? Look at my DAC report. What I made at a previous employer is none of your business.

Minimum wage pays 40,000 a year roughly. There's no way you can live on 10k a year and be independent. You'd be feening off every government aid possible.

    Since never? $7.25/hr x 40 hrs/week = $290/week before taxes. - $15,080 if you work 52 weeks @40 hours/week:biggrin_25513:
