Volvo 610 -Tranny issue

    I have an issue with Meritor/ RM10-155A Locks in High gear not all the time but when it does, It can takes hours for it release. any suggestions

    is this an auto tranny , if it is , you might have a bad xy shifter , to find out, when it gets stuck in gear go under truck and tap on the xy shifter motor lightly , its on top of the transmission , then try to put in nutreal and try to start then . also try disconnecting the transmission ecu cables for a min. or the eng. ecu and than try to start than . what engine do you have .?

    check VSS, VSS wiring to VECU, and to TCU. If TCU looses speed data TCU keeps high gear to prevent tranny damage with wrong downshiftng.

    but first check TCU and VECU for fault codes, fortunatly Volvo dashboard lets you do it w/o dealer

    i'm having a problem with my tranny it is an autoshifter,we replaced the xy shifter motor and it still gets stuck in gear,not always the same gear but anywhere from fourth up to and mostly in tenth. it will not downshift when slowing down and sometimes will not shift up ,also i am having an air issue,when i am driving the air drops down to and sometime past 90lbs,when this happens the tranny starts a low howling noise almost like a distant sirien.I sometimes wonder if the two issues are related somehow or if these are two seperated problems,any answers out there?oh yea i almost i have an 06 volvo 780 w/d12 465volvo engine & eaton/fuller 10speed full autoshifter.

    also on that tranny problem when i go in to clear the codes it acts normal until the next time.it seams to act up two or three time in a group of time go a while and then mess up again, shifts ok in manual so i suspect it may be programing of electrical in nature but i can't count out some kind of senser or something like that.

    Mine was a crushed o-ring in the slave valve. The one that controlled the high-low range selector.
