so i waited and waited and they never got back to me. I looked on to some other ways to make money, car hauler, hot shot, expediting, heavy hauling, running under my own authority again and some other things but nothing fell thru or for one reason or another I didnt like something and backed out. So I called land star again.
They said because I didn't have a truck she out me on the back burner and forgot about me till I got a truck and called her. So I found a truck down in TX that is already at landstar. I told her and she got down to it and started my app again. I just got a call from a past boss who said they called him and asked for work reference. So it looks like they processing my app again.
I'm trying to pick this truck up from TX and meet him at orientation if possible. Ill see how it works out. Currently trying to find financing and go from there....I'll post up if I get there.

Anybody have any good truck financing leads?
-
Paccar, International Harvester, Chrysler Credit are three that specialize in big truck financing. There are others, but it would be better if you could talk with your own bank and see if they would finance you first. Terms would more than likely be better. If you belong to a credit union, you might want to see if they would help.HDFEDTRUCKER2010 Thanks this. -
I just short sold my town home and payed off a pick up truck this month...think that would do the trick for these finance co's? Reading all of your posts G/Man I am thinking a good used Pete or KW would fit the bill for me with LS.
-
So I am just playing the slow one here, when you say "WORK to create his business" is there a phone list of all the LS agents out there? Do you just call your favorites in each state to get loads instead of using the board? Is that how you build business?
-
Less debt is always a good thing when it comes to borrowing more money. Landstar doesn't care what brand of truck you buy as long as it will pass a DOT inspection and looks fairly well. Buy, there are a lot of trucks for sale. I am sure you will find something that you want to buy. There are lots of 379's and W900's near me for sale. -
Thanks G/MAN you are a wealth of information and I plan on soaking your brain like a sponge!!! lol

You are welcome. At one time Landstar had a small pocket size book that they gave to all new BCO's that listed all their agents. They also used to list their agents on their website. They no longer allow access to agents on the public website. I don't know if they are still giving away the agent book at orientation. Someone told me a year or so ago that they no longer publish the book of agents.
You cannot assume that any Landstar agent only has loads out of his base town. Some don't have any local business. Once you lease on with them you can access their BCO loadboard and see who has loads and the rates. There is a public loadboard that lists loads, but don't usually list the rates. The agent code will be listed, but you won't be able to tell where they agent is located without calling them. When you know you are going to a specific area, you can post your truck on their loadboard and when you will be empty. Those who have loads will start to call you. Agents will also post their loads on their load board. You can do your own search for loads once you know where you will drop. -
This is very true. It does not even have to look fairly well. I have seen some crappy LS trucks on the road. But with Landstar you will have to pass the DOT every 120 days.

Landstar has "BCO Tools" the best one I have found is "Lane match". This gives you the ability to search any particular area and will show a list of agents and the number of loads they have filled for that particular area over xx amount of days.
It will also let you see the agents with loads in that area that have not posted anything to the load board.
There is no longer a book, or list of agents given out at orientation, but all agents, phone numbers, address, and codes are available on the load board.
