    Dear Truckers,

    I want to be a truck driver real bad. I am 23 with no experience in trucking and graduated from college this year. However I've said the heck with my degree I'd rather drive a truck everyday.

    My problem: All within the last 3 years...

    I have three tickets, two were speeding 15- 18 mph over, one failing to yield right of way.

    I have three wrecks, two rear-ends, and one where I totaled out my pickup on a dirt road, all my fault.

    I applied for USA Truck and driving school. They haven't given me the verdict yet.....

    Please ease some of the built up tension that's in my gut and give me your opinion.

    42848, you do not give us enough information to form an intelligent opinion here. In fact, I have to wonder if your post is for real, or if you are just "trolling."

    You don't say anything about a time frame on the tickets/accidents, you don't say anything about your age or experience. If you sincerely want information on whether or not you are hire-able, you need to be talking to company representatives.

    OK, that is better. Apparently we were posting at the same time.

    My guess is that you will have to find some smaller local outfit, such as construction or trash or something similar.

    Frankly, if you have to invest money in schooling for your CDL, I think you should wait a while to do so. Like maybe a couple of years.

    I figured you guy's would give me the no bull answers that a company wouldn't. So that's why I am asking the truckers themselves.

    I am 23. no experience. all tickets and accidents within the last three years. does this help?

    Yeah, it helps a lot. I really do believe you will need to give yourself some time here to let this stuff drop off. Meanwhile, don't get into any more jams behind the wheel.

    I do appreciate your advice Big Don. and no I'm not a troller. You might be surprised how many college kids like me are unemployed and hope their not starving next week.

    With all due respect, I don't think you have a chance of getting a professional driving job. I can't imagine who would hire you with that record.

    Most companies have a limit of 3 - 4 tickets and/or wrecks in a 3 or 5 year period. With 2 speeding 15 MPH over the posted limit and 2 rear-end collisions, I don't think you should be driving a truck and any insurance company would agree.

    If you had a CDL, two speeding tickets 15 MPH over posted limit in a three year period will cause you to lose your CMV driving priviledges for 60 days per Part 383.51 because they are considered a serious violation.

    Both of these speeding tickets are classified as RECKLESS...anything of 15 mph over the limit is reckless.

    The "failure to yield" shows that you don't really know how to pay attention....not even in a little regular car (or pick-up truck...either way)...so what makes you think you would be paying any closer attention to details (stop signs, yield signs, school busses loading/unloading...you know regular everyday, LIFE CRITICAL EVENTS THAT STOP ACCIDENTS, INJURIES, AND DEATH!
