The $25/week is for 16 weeks and it's in case you abandon the truck at a location the company hasn't agreed upon. It goes into an escrow and you're supposed to get it back if you quit and leave the truck at an agreed upon location.

Get it in writing BEFORE you leave the truck anywhere other than a company terminal.

Noggin, did you leave your truck at a terminal or at another location and did you get your escrow back?

a friend of mine resently informed me that the his local unemployment dept. would pay for his cdl training at a local college. As part of a retraining program. there is also other programs that will do this if your a vet. both are a free service. with the unemployment office you just need to regestered in that office. Although differant states could have differant qualifcation for these programs. check with yours before you sign that contract

It's $6000 dollars but if you fulfill your contract it only costs you $2000 and they hold out $45 a week after you become a first seat driver until your year is up and then they pay off the loan and give you whatever extra you may have.

I dropped it at the Irving yard and rented a car down to Houston.

I got my full escrow back after 90 days.

C1/Driver Solutions is approx $1400. I can't remember the exact amount, but I know it wasn't as much as $2000. They take out $45 a week for I believe 42 or 43 weeks, which is more than necessary to repay the loan, and DS sends you your C1 certificate and a check for the excess, totalling about $395 or so...

(its been a couple years, so the exact numbers are long gone from my brain lol)

Yeah, as dj said, its used in case you abandon your truck, for the recovery cost...but also if you have damage that needs to be fixed. since you quit without getting repairs done, they'll use your escrow to pay for it instead of their own money.

Then the price has gone up since I went through...ridiculous.

For as much as they make per week, they should at least get new(er) equipment.

Easy Noggin, don't panic yet. Garnished wages ( ther than support, taxes and IRS ) are subject to state law ( residence ) and it's not allowed in Texas. The school contract is subject to the laws of the state where written.

Places like Taxachusetts and such allow this. This is why most of your cc's are Nevada or Deleware based because the contract is subject to those laws however with unsecured debt ( in Texas ) all they can do is beach at you and trash your credit. ( That's enough! )

An interesting legal twist to the financial laws is forgiven debt is now considered taxable income by the IRS...... in all states. So if you short sale your home and duck 100k owed to the bank........or duck 10k on the cc's......... just an FYI. ( been this way for several years now )

I agree 100% one of the Road not pad trucks mind you but the ROAD truck didn't have a spring in the transmission for the shifter and you could just as easily try and go to 7 and rev was there because we were all used to the spring being there to give it that little bump over. My pad truck you had to go through the passenger door because the driver door was welded shut and another truck driver door worked but it was only half the time you had to sit there and slam it 10 or more times sometimes before it would shut. When I went to take my road test at Little Rock the examiner was asking my instructor about some problems that had apparently been wrong with the truck for a while because he was surprised that they where. One thing I have to say though is that training on them pieces of crap I should be able to drive almost anything now. LOL :mlaugh:
