I was "googleing" anything I could find about what others might be saying about the Landstar Trucking Company when I saw a thread from someone who apparently answers a lot of questions for you about Landstar. I have so missed being part of a Truckers Forum. The only other one I knew about was getloaded.com, but I quit subscribing to them years ago. I've been in the Trucking Industry a little over 20 years. I started out in Payroll, then Dispatch, then 5-1/2 years Safety Director, then drove one myself over the road for a couple of years. One thing I learned for sure, is that I certainly don't think in "reverse" very well (ha!) I can't back up a 53 footer worth a darn without taking 2 hours to do it! I became a Landstar Agent 6 years ago come September, when I got off the road. Personally, I'm sad to say Landstar has steadily been going down hill. I really love working with the Landstar Owner Operators - they are the most Professional and nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with! These days, It's getting harder and harder to keep "hanging in there" with Landstar because It's got to where it takes about a month for them to pay me! I'm hearing from more and more Landstar Owner Operators that it's taking about a month to get their pay too! I talked to a Driver yesterday who says after his last bout with Landstar, he's done. He hasn't gotten paid in about a month, and he needed a $100 loan so he would have some money for the week. Landstar told him they would loan him the money at 10% interest. This is a loan on what Landstar already owes him but hasn't paid him! I don't know what's going on lately at Corporate Landstar, but I hope they figure it out real soon!!

We have never had a problem getting paid for what Landstar owes us. I know some crazy things happen within the Landstar family, but after we complete a trip or series of trips we get things scanned in NLT Wedneday each week Pay has always been there on Friday the same week

Thanks for the warm welcome all! One thing I'm learning now is to quit going by what loadboards say average rates paid are. Most of the time, their rates don't work! Before I make bids on lanes anymore, I've gotten to where I personally call my Landstar BCO's who live in the area and ask for their rate. Unfortunately, I haven't won any bids yet, but I'm wondering - if more of us would ask you, the Driver instead of going by what the loadboards say, maybe we could be a lot more successful covering our loads? Also - if enough of us do that and quit going by those boards maybe we could get the average paid rate up to where you could live with the rates?
