just want to clarify my last post.
around north battleford, sk they pay the $ 16.00 an hour. i work around lloyd because thats an oil town and the wages are alot better, but have an hour long drive to work each day.
there are oil haulers around here that pay alot more but thats not what i want to do. it seems if your not hauling oilfield related stuff your not going to be making any money in the battleford area anyway.

My ex-brother inlaw works south of Virden, MB and makes about $35 an hour. Oil patch trucking. He is always trying to talk me into it but I don't like the patch. Sanjel ruined for me back in the 90's.

Hey, I work for a truck training school in Ottawa. I get guys coming in all the time talking about going straight to Alberta for the big money jobs. I know that they are eager to hire drivers but what about drivers with zero experience? Can they find employers willing to hire them out there? What are the starting wages usually?
-
this is my experience. when i was working up at cnrl, horizon or meg projects, christina lake both in alberta, we would only drive about 20 kms a day the rest of the time we were operating the truck, eg: vac truck, pressure trucks ect... the company i was with only hired experienced drivers due to how tight of area the plant sites usually are. backing and ground guides are more important than going forwards. one way to start is going in as a labourer/swamper and working your way up from there. wages vary due to what your operating but expect to get $20.00+ an hour
